Only the gullible and naїve don't know this.
That's not really the point. The point is a Lineage OS Device that was being actively used had less network traffic in 24 hours, than a Windows PC sitting idle for an hour.

I think someone who would make a statement like:

I trust Apple with keeping my data safe from random niggerfaggots more, than some autistic indian making an android ROM for my phone.
Is pretty gullible, which is what prompted my original reply, but that's me. Maybe you don't mean it the way I'm reading it. I'm reading it as "I trust Apple," which is the thing I'm calling retarded.

Windows in itself is a paid spyware OS for housewifes.
Houswives don't use PCs. Housewives only use phones in 2021. Windows is used mostly by people who need it for business and games.

WWDC happens on Monday and I'm kinda excited for it. IIRC, last year's WWDC was where the Apple Silicon stuff was first initially announced and everyone was rightly skeptical, but Apple put up and everyone shut up since then.

The most likely hardware announcements will be new MBPs with updated Apple Silicon processors; either "M1X" or "M2," depending on how profound the hardware updates will be. Rumors are that the cases will be like older MPBs with more ports, including SD card readers and HDMI ports, and no fucking Touch Bar, both of which, if true, continue a slow trend of Apple listening more closely to the desires of pro users which are often at odds with Apple's desire to make their hardware thinner at the cost of practicality and… do whatever they were doing with the Touch Bar.

But on the other hand, there's also rumors of a new thinner design for the Mac Mini which will use the same weird unified power/ethernet connector as the new iMac models, which also means an external power brick. So I guess the weird obsession with making things thinner hasn't been completely purged from the company. As a fan of the Mini - it's what I reflexively recommend to friends and family who want a new machine and have modest needs - I'm not sure how I feel about that idea yet.

There will also be the usual slew of OS updates, but I haven't been following those too closely and don't know if there are any particularly exciting features we should be looking out for.

I'm fine with external power bricks, it makes it trivial to replace if shit goes wrong. Though I wish all of them just had the ethernet jack, because come on.

And I'm happy to see the HDMI port return, too. Maybe Apple's finally getting over their obsession with having fuck all for ports, because having a dongle jungle is terrible.

That's not without precedent, as the first few generations of Mac mini had external power supplies with proprietary connectors anyways, so it shouldn't be that much of a problem to anyone who doesn't intend to use it as a server

Only Apple can be applauded for undoing their own fuck ups as if it were some revolutionary new innovation. They’ll bring full-size HDMI, MagSafe and an SD card reader back to the MBP and everyone will collectively lose their minds. I’m curious to see how they manage to kill off the touchbar without admitting it was a gimmick. I’m guessing they just won’t mention it, or they’ll boast about the “new” function keys like it’s the second coming of Christ.

dammit I’m excited…

If they weren't bringing back the HDMI port and someone on an Apple forum asked for one, they'd be dogpiled by retards calling them a luddite and suggesting they just get a thunderbolt dock. Also a bunch of "ackshually, HDMI is a 20 year old standard and it's time to move on sweaty. they are bulky and ugly and thunderbolt is much more elegant and forward thinking"

Interested to hear what the battery life will be on the new 14” and 16” MBP. Hearing anywhere from 20-25 hours. The Apple silicon chips are a marvel. They’ve made the Mac mini good again.

I'd like Apple to go full circle and bring back the 2012 MacBook Pro. No hardware refresh, no OS update, no thin fetishism, just revert all the changes to the MBP line and call it the wave of the future.

"Not a single person could know what's coming next. This. Is. Innovation."

(dramatic reveal of MagSafe, Ethernet and separate headphone and line in jacks)

"You'll never be constrained again."

Apple pays millions to woman after explicit photos posted online

Technicians posted the private photos and video from her iPhone after she sent it to Apple for repair, according to legal documents
ByJames Titcomb SAN FRANCISCO6 June 2021 • 7:00am

Apple paid millions of dollars to a student after iPhone repair technicians posted explicit photos and videos from her phone to Facebook, legal documents have revealed.
The tech giant agreed a settlement with the 21-year-old after two employees at a repair facility uploaded the images from a phone she had sent to Apple to be fixed, resulting in “severe emotional distress”.
The incident, which occurred in 2016 at a centre in California run by Pegatron, an Apple contractor, is one of the most significant privacy violations to be revealed at an iPhone repair facility.
Apple has often argued that its control over how its devices can be fixed helps to protect customers’ privacy, lobbying against legislation that would make it easier for third parties to fix its electronics.
Legal filings show that the unnamed victim, a university student in Oregon, sent her phone to Apple after it had stopped working.
While it was being fixed, the two technicians posted “10 photos of her in various stages of undress and a sex video” from her Facebook account, in a way that suggested she had uploaded them herself. The images were only removed after friends informed her that they had been posted.
The exact size of the settlement was not disclosed, but was described in filings as a “multimillion-dollar” sum, and that lawyers for the individual had demanded $5m (£3.6m) in negotiations.
Lawyers for the victim had threatened to sue for invasion of privacy and infliction of emotional distress, and had warned of the “negative media publicity” that would accompany a lawsuit. The settlement included a confidentiality provision that prevented her from discussing the case or revealing the size of the payout.

The incident emerged during a legal dispute between Pegatron, which had reimbursed Apple for the settlement, and its insurers, which in turn refused to foot the bill. Apple was not directly named in the lawsuit, and was referred to simply as a “customer” throughout, in an effort to keep the matter confidential.
Apple was only recently named as the customer during a separate, unrelated lawsuit against the iPhone maker, and the company confirmed the incident to The Telgraph. The breach happened at a Pegatron facility in a suburb of the California city of Sacramento where Apple has a substantial presence.
In legal filings, Apple had argued that making details of the settlement public could “irreparably harm” it and cause “substantial business harm”. It insisted on confidentiality throughout, with many of the details of the incident sealed.
The incident triggered an “exhaustive” investigation by Apple, according to the filings, with the two individuals responsible for posting the images fired. The case was dismissed after Pegatron and the insurers settled privately.
Apple, as well as trade groups representing the company, have argued against “right to repair” laws that campaigners say would make it easier for independent technicians to fix devices, claiming that this would jeopardise safety or privacy.
The company told a US committee in 2019 that its oversight of iPhone repairs ensures a “safe and reliable repair”.
An Apple spokesman said: "We take the privacy and security of our customers' data extremely seriously and have a number of protocols in place to ensure data is protected throughout the repair process. When we learned of this egregious violation of our policies at one of our vendors in 2016, we took immediate action and have since continued to strengthen our vendor protocols."

It's insane how The Fappening got swept under the rug so hard. It was an iCloud photo leak, yet no big voices out there seemed to have the slightest dent in their trust of iCloud's security? What the hell?

This had nothing to do with iCloud, though. This lady took her phone in for service and apparently gave her PIN/password to the contracted service tech as part of it, and the tech found and leaked the photos and videos. It was wrong for that tech to do that, of course, but I don't really feel sorry for the lady who owned the phone any more than I do for the guys who take computers full of CP in for servicing and end up arrested.

Once a potential attacker has physical access to the hardware, all security hypotheticals go out the window. So if you must take your hardware in for servicing, don't give up your passwords, but don't be surprised if the techs snoop around for anything interesting anyway.

EDIT: WWDC was kinda boring. No hardware announcements. The new Safari improvements look nice, I guess. I don't like that iPad owners will now be able to develop iOS apps and put them on the store - that seems like a way to guarantee at least a certain amount of crap.

Remember when Tinder was iOS only and there was this wave of "oh, we applefags are beautiful unlike the greentexters" shit?

On a related note, Facetime is becoming platform agnostic through a PWA.
