Are twitch streamers being paid to play SCUM - Money? In-Game items?

I heard from a review that the reason SCUMs jumped so high on twitch was because streamers were getting paid or given free stuff any evidence for that?

Other than past scandals? I don't think so. It's probably just because it's an open world survival game and those always bring in viewers for the first week or so.
