Part of the horror of Chris is how delusional he is, and how much he wants to avoid change or challenge.

Really that's what I fear about becoming like Chris. Losing self awareness.

Depends on what aspect of Chris's life.
I'll never rage against trolls on YouTube or post comics on the web because I know they'd be bad.
But the possibility of me losing my job and having to move back with my parents and/or collect from the government will always be there. I have enough job security so hopefully that won't be a problem.

I know it's common for others to be like "I use Chris as an example of what not to do", but to be blunt, I've never thought I needed to use Chris as a guide.

No, not really. My lifestyle (at least in terms of opportunities I've had and choices I've made--good and bad--) has me in a place where I can't even imagine becoming like him. Sure, there are aspects of his life where I'm able to empathize or sympathize, but I'm a neurotypical female that is used to basic adult life.

I think we're all here because we see some facet of ourselves in Chris. If we didn't, we would have nothing to be interested in and nothing to relate to with Chris. Everybody who maintains some attention toward CWC does so because they themselves are either autistic, have fringe interests, live with their parents, depend upon public benefits, obsessively play card games, are escapists, etc.

Me? I have some social mingling issues. I'm a wallflower (no pun intended), and I do not really make friends all that easily. I have issues in large social gatherings. I have received government benefits at some point in my life. I was also a fan of Sonic and Pokemon, but in my younger years. I came from a (severely) dysfunctional family. I have some crossover with Chris, so to an extent he was almost like a parallel universe me if I didn't make it a point to try and better myself. That was going to be my future.

"Being Chris" was something that pinged in the back of my head the first time I saw him, though honestly I cannot see myself being as gullible and content to live in a child's bedroom full of toys. The underlying fear of a failure to thrive is what I think frightened me the most.

I lost my job awhile back and have been having trouble finding work. The longer you are without work the harder to land a job.

Every day i am afraid of giving up and becomming like chris.

Than again every day i send out Resumes to fight off the Dieses of :medallion:

This. I think some of Chris' appeal is the fact that we all see ourselves in him somewhat. But he's like that version of us that went horribly wrong.

True. I saw my interest (and creation of fanworks) of video game series in him.
Except, I always make my stuff for others to enjoy.

Yeah, I see more of myself in Chris than I want to admit. I'd never become exactly like him because if I did half the stuff he did I'd be deeply ashamed of myself. But I could see myself unemployed, on government assistance and not doing anything with my life.

I've said it before and I'll say it again - as long as you understand that you need to improve your life and then do something about it, you are farther along than Chris will ever be. I doubt any poster on here would sink to Chris's level, but you may have some superficial things in common with him.

I don't really see myself becoming a person like chris or a lolcow, though, it would suck to acquire some of chris's mistakes and fails... but not really, i am more terrified of ending up in the streets because of how hard the economical situation is here in mexico.

That is a very fair and good point. As much as I like to make fun of Sonichu Chris put himself out there with his creation. I keep telling my wife i am going to finish my novel, tape my cooking show, and i never do. I think it is fear of failior and being judged as I have judged Chris. Dont get me wrong i am no white knight. But It does sting that chris managed to have the guts to post himself/his creations online and i have yet to build that courage lol.

If one is not actually Chris, they should not be worried about becoming Chris.

Every day of my life. Luckily unlike Chris my OC "Marioc: God of War" is an awesome comic character. I do have the fear one day my picture will be taken and i'll end up with the life CWC currently has due to being trolled.

Just do it. Write it, and post it. As long as you are true to yourself and know how to shrug off the people who I guarantee will arrive to rain on your parade, you'll do fine as a writer or videographer or whatever it is you want to do. Chris posts his work not because he has courage, but because he has no social compass. It's for this reason why he also reacts so violently to people pestering him (e.g. "MASTURBATIN AND SQUIRTIN"). You could have drawing skills on par with Chris but if you're not a total nutjob there are dozens of people on DeviantArt who'd gladly follow your work and be interested in what you make.

The fact that you have apprehensions about sharing your work means you acknowledge and accept the fact that there may be people who disagree with you. You're perceiving this ahead of time; now the next step is to realize that people who post "fake and gay" on your YouTube videos just aren't worth your time.

Everyone has a bit of Chris in them. Part of his draw is he is this walking amalgam of negative traits we've learned to dislike in other people and/or ourselves. The other draw is those attributes are shoved into a clumsy shell controlled by a mind too slow to be threatening and an ego too big to pity for very long. Some people are afraid of hitting 30+ and finding out their life hadn't moved as much as they'd planned while others fear that they may not be contributing enough to the world. If you're not afraid of becoming like Chris then you might already have his ego... or you're just that confident. Fuck if I know. I have over 800 posts on a forum dedicated to an autisic guy who shits himself.
