I agree with most the Kiwis here. I'm more on the side of Dan's weird habit of pumping and dumping legally aged fans is lawful but awful. From a lawful viewpoint, what he's doing isn't illegal. Yes, he only engaged in sexual activity once his teenaged fans became of age. From an ethical standpoint, it's gross and sus as all hell. But the women who slept with him should know better that a man 20 years your senior who frequently makes songs about sex is likely going to ghost you. That also isn't to say Dan shouldn't receive backlash for actions, because he most certainly should.

So, as a former fan of Game Grumps, I've just gotta say, everyone involved in this situation is a piece of shit, not so much because their actions were illegal or anything, but because they're raging hypocrites.

Dan had the reputation as the "nice guy", with even anti-Grump places like r/ConspiracyGrumps defending him as "the last good thing on the show". He also would talk on and on about how "You have to treat your woman right" etc but while also talking about his sexual proclivities. So it's no shocker that he's a raging sexaholic who pumps and dumps groupies half his age. Everything in his actual character points to that. But this fundamentally conflicts with his "nice guy" persona.

Then there are all of the fans involved. So much of the current fanbase are teen and tween girls who regularly buy into "woke" culture and deem anything and everything as "problematic" and "racist" (saw a fan complaint about the Dan situation bringing up "Arin's problematic, racist past" as if this wasn't already known for his 15 year online presences...?) and see this as "grooming" (everything is grooming nowadays). The fact of the matter is is that Dan consensually had sex with adults. Even from some accounts from people he supposedly "abused", he never once claimed he wanted a monogamous relationship and she finally left the relationship when she demanded that. Dan was very up front with how much he was fucking around with multiple people. So these people just need to admit that they're star fuckers who are angry they're not as special as they thought they were since they're just one in a harem.

So yeah, I ultimately hope this leads to Game Grumps' demise, but these are the same people who distanced themselves from JonTron for "racism" while keeping their editor who had known sexual contact with a 14-year-old girl

Just to add onto this, their fans are almost exclusively women at this point. Middle/High school aged yaoi fans and middle aged women have latched onto the show. The only males who like it are late elementary school age, and they're only a part of it because they got clickbaited into accidentally tuning in. The boys do not stick around as actual fans.

Arin and Dan have gone out of their way to appeal to disturbed and creepy women of young to middle age. If anyone is wondering why this nothingburger has blown up twitter and reddit and spilled over here, that's why. Because Dan did something that broke the female emotional/sexual fantasy that the "not so grump" image has cultivated.

Anyway, I think it's buried now. sleazy behavior is okay if you meet a legalistic threshold. It stilll sounds like he was being manipulative in the sense that he was friendly until he got sex and never communicated it would be a one time thing. I'd say this is why you don't put yourself in a pump and dump situation but hoes never learn. Women are dumb and make bad decisions about men like this. That's why some of us are using the morality POV as a gotcha against Dan.
