Nah military won't be involved. It was after Tiananmen Square, the party decided to create armed police forces to deal with out-of-hand protests, something commonly seen in the west too. Most draw the line at things being set on fire. Taiwan has the funniest protests, police being egged it a great sight.

This situation should get really interesting very quick. When China brings their People's Army in, we can certainly expect Tienanmen II, but what happens from there should be interesting. First off, the display of power of Hong Kong, will agitate Taiwan. There's an election coming up, and the Pro-Beijing candidate will not do well. Taiwan could even have their own things in a show of compassion for Hong Kong and to show that the people will not bow to China. If this happens, China will most certainly invade, leading to the US coming in on Taiwan's side. This could possibly royally fuck global trade as it wouldn't surprise me if both China and the US play favourites depending which side people go on for this inevitable conflict.

Even if China doesn't invade Taiwan, then the US could still crack down harder on the country, leading to one pissed CCP and worsening trade conflict. This could make it more obvious to the world that China is a paper tiger, who desperately need the outside world to keep their many bubbles afloat, but are either too proud or too incompetent to admit anything. If China collapses, then the world will try and fill it's power vacuum. Also keep in mind that China collapsing would be the collapse of a government armed with nuclear weapons and a grudge against both the US and Japan. Anime might become a whole new level of degenerate with that amount of radiation going into the Jap's water.

Also, can we collectively raugh at China declaring umbrellas and laser pointers "dangerous weapons"? What are the protesters going to do, lightly poke and slightly damage the police officers' eyes? China is a propaganda state no equiped to deal with people who can see through BS.

Yeah right, looking at the current situations, what's another way to "reunify" with Taiwan? It has to be invasion. When HK goes through, refugees from the city will flock to Taiwan. Why not use a 20mW laser and test in on your own eyeball?
It's not the CCP laws, it's illegal even in HK, look up the laws regarding to lasers. The line is drawn at 500mW or something for stargazing. Most laser pointers go into the UV spectrum which cause damage to the human eye, even though they claim it's blue or green or red or whatever, due to improper cheap bandpass filters.
