I really love that pulpy artstyle from people like Alex Toth, Jack Kirby, Bruce Timm, Darwyn Cooke, and Genndy Tartakovsky among others. Hell, I really love that old comic book aesthetic as a whole.

I was walking around Clerkenwell in London a few weeks ago and I came across this exhibition on pulp novel cover illustration from the 1960s. I'd never really paid attention to that kind of art before, but now I've really got into it. Here's an article on the exhibition, including some examples.

Tim Sale's art from Long Halloween is fantastic. It's got a great mix of Batman's trademark Gothic gloominess and a more surreal style that makes it interesting. I think of it like a much more polished Frank Miller. Definitely the best style for Batman.

I don't know what you'd call this, but I'm also a big fan of Sunrise Animation's style during the nineties through early two thousands. I always thought it looks really vibrant and stands out from a lot of generic anime art.

Off the top of my head: I like Slugbox's style, I think he has a very specific niche and I have yet to find any other artist who draws the exact same way he does.

Aside from that I'm at a bit of a loss. I like a lot of different artists but am hard pressed to really identify a "style" I like more than others.

I like Q Hayashida's rough sketchy style as seen in Dorohedoro, I think it goes well with the grimy aesthetic of the manga as a whole.

I was always really into Fauvism so I got really excited about Fred Clark's portraits when I discovered them

Also pretty into Egon Schiele, who's one of her inspirations, as well as David Hockney and Paul Nash.
If we're talking architecture then I'm definitely into brutalism and post war modernism in general

I always had mixed feelings on the art of The Long Halloween, Dark Victory and Catwoman: When in Rome. There are times it works really well but there are times it just makes everything awkward. Especially faces.

I think it's how he colors things. I actually like his girls better when he draws smol tiddies.

I actually really like OFF-looking things, like this guy's gallery. I don't know what that style would be called but here's some examples from that guy.

the constant red backgrounds are a little much imo but look at that girl's face. I love it.
Comic book line art, where it's just inked with black, has always had a special place in my heart as well. I'm a sucker for anything with a limited pallette, especially when it's just black and white.

It's the cute faces, the body shapes he draws, the colors... even when he does a fetish that doesn't really apply to me, it's still a good picture and I can enjoy it regardless. That's a mark of quality.

Kim Jung Gi is anime as fuck but also REALLY fucking cool. I used to be a weeb so that influences it, but the drawings he makes are actually pretty impressive. I used to be a huge weeb, and grew out of it but I still love the ink+brush, pen style.

www.kimjunggius.com is his website. It's down now for whatever reason but his art is pretty fucking cool.

There's a sort of dynamic to his style that's hard to describe. It's both architectural, draftsman-ish, and dynamic, fluid and monumental--and it lands somewhere in between something like Michelangelo and anime, as far as depicting a story. That seems like really spergishly high praise but the dude is a REALLY good artist, in my eyes.

Like, there's a lot there, in every image there's a lot to digest, but he doesnt go overboard or anything, it feels very planned and meticulous which gives it a sort of cozy atmosphere. Dude's an INCREDIBLE illustrator.

It's kind of an overdone, sort of commercial art style a la Leonard Afremov or those watercolor paintings where peoplke will spash watercolor and paint on a canvas and let it drip down to create a dynamic, but I am a fan of Paul Wright's paintings, too.

I also like a few other styles. I really like Alphonse Mucha's style but that's pretty pedestrian, all things considered. He and Van Gogh are like, 20-something dorm-poster wet dreams, but I still like their works and their styles.

Because of that style, I think you would like Kim Jung Gi. Check his work out. He's famous, but I am amazed at how good he is and how much I love his work.

Dude follow the eastern tradition of using a calligraphy/bamboo brush to paint, but draws with a pen, as far as I know. His work is beautiful. Dude is one of my absolute, top 10 favorite artists. I love his work.

His work is so detailed, but so clean, it's incredible. It's like, everything is there for a reason, but the reason it's there is because it just happens to exist there, he didnt specifically select anything or consciously place anything when drawing the scene--dude builds these worlds that you almost feel are inhabitable. Dude is like, my idol. Im sperging over him but god damn is he a good artist.

I like those medieval paintings with strange perspective.
Also yesterday I went to Poland's largest art gallery which is hosting a temporary exhibition of Japanese ukiyo-e style woodblock prints and I love that kind of art. There were hundreds of pictures displayed there like Katsushika Hokusai's 36 views of Mount Fuji, all authentic. I guess that's one perk of being able to replicate those in many copies.
