The fuk. Unless she grows up to be well-endowed, that is a completely fucking useless hygiene skill.

This shit is making me despise 'ABA' even more.

From what I've watched, she far prefers her mom to her dad.

As for communication, she could be better at it if they focused 100% on AAC. She doesnt have the fine motor for signs and she doesnt need to be learning how to buy fucking groceries. I think shed be able to get pretty far with AAC (probably to some level of abstraction - combining individual words to form other words or be more specific... maybe like 3 word sentences, but probably still pretty concrete things).
Don’t be silly, if she starts actually speaking she’ll start saying things like “stop” and “no camera” and that won’t make for a good video.

Lol, nope, it expands across the Kiwiverse.

Anyway, still...how did no one notice her putting salt water in her mouth? She doesnt appear very dexterous, so she probably had to really work for it. I'm gonna get off this hill, but it's just one of the many Thunks this weird ass family has provoked in me.
Unless we wanna go down a much much much darker route then plain neglect and assume she was forced to drink salt water some time earlier.

Which makes me go from this hill to another, if the former is true, what else is she forced to do? Not like she could tell anyone.

Am I reading that wrong or did they really only put like 11% down? I can't believe anyone gave him a loan for a house that price with just 11% down. I've always considered 20% to be the minimum even for a home half the price.
I just said the same thing. WTF?! Who buys a house when you need the whole amount? People usually save up for this, no? Minimum (and that's kinda sad) should be 20%. I'm surprised the bank gave him that much.... And based on YouTube/Social Media income? Maybe he had a guarantor?? Hmmmm......🤔 I kinda liked them....especially Abbie😞 (but dear Lord, that CRAZY loud screaming she does sends me into a tizzy)-she's an extra special kinda re.tard😵)but after seeing how Asa was totally doing this for profits not for educational purposes. And he has Eczema on his hands and forearm and at times it more severe and skeevey😷

This is what I mean by them using ABA inappropriately. They do not like the vocalization she makes so they call it yelling. She is going around vocalizing so they remove her from THEIR area and complain they are stumped why it escalated her. They swear its not a punishment though to stop her from doing what she is doing just because it appears to annoy them.

The reason the behavior doesnt stop is : 1. it appears to stem from self-stimulation so it is soothing for her and 2. there is no structure or reason the behavior is usually allowed if it suits their needs.

The street name is hilarious. Is "Spotted Saddle" supposed to mean a horseback saddle with 'spots' on it or were the street namers just a bunch of idiots?

Holy shit though is this guy insane. At least give her a little bit of privacy FFS.

I'm sure the point of their channel is to normalize autism and show how it's really not so bad raising a severely mentally defective child but it really seems to be having the opposite effect. If I was an expectant/new mom looking for information on what raising a severely autistic child was like and came across these videos, I'd yeet that kid out of my life as soon as possible. Why would anyone put themselves through this shit if not for virtue points, attention, and money?

Hosting crisis part 2, electric boogaloo. I've seen people buy houses with only 3% down.

I feel like street namers in suburbs must just pull jobs and adjectives from a hat.

That’s an issue, reminds me a LOT of Gwen Hartley. Basically “hey, it’s not so bad raising a profoundly disabled child. All you have to do is not have a real job and cash in on how to tell others how to raise a profoundly disabled child.”.

It’s like that old joke: “I’m selling one million copies of my book ‘How to make a million dollars!’ for only $1 a piece”.

I'm gonna repeat myself but her creepy ass dad shaving his autistic daughter's muff is completely age and gender inappropriate, normal fathers (and predators who want to get away with it) would rather eat bullets than do anything that even suggests pedo incest. Letting a sped go hairy and dirty with neglect is fucked up, but this is advanced fucked up. I'm hoping they just meant they're shaving her limbs and it's just weird hygiene priorities.

Wait, what? I thought they were just shaving her armpits? Why shave her pubic hair? What advantage does that have? And the dad does it? That's beyond inappropriate.

It fucking annoys me that Abbie taps them and they ignore her. She signs bathroom and they ignore it. The ‘choices’ they give her lead to what they want not what she wants. They don’t keep the rules consistent and now they all wonder why she gets wild. *sigh*

They only shave her armpits, no muff involved, let's put a stop to that one before it gets out of hand. I think the reason why they do shaving etc isn't just because of society, but Abby seems to enjoy doing 'girly' things like getting her nails done etc and making her feel like an average teenage girl is important to them. Obviously there's a societal part to it, they said that for example if she wears something like a dress that shows her pits they feel it would be nice for her to not have people thinking ew hairy, but I think the whole thing is making her feel 'normal' and doing things other girls her age would be thinking about doing.

Obviously Abbie doesn't care about if she has hair or not, but I think when it comes to any kind of disability related care it doesn't matter if the person doesn't have a concept of if they look good or not, it's important to still make the effort. I remember at my old job, some parents would really make the effort to dress their kids up nicely when they would come to club and it was really nice to see people thinking about what their kid actually might want to wear instead of buying cheep clothes and throwing them on because "they don't care what they wear so it doesnt matter!"

Also on the bathing matter, iirc Asa has said that growing up Abbie responded better to him that Cilla, that she would have more meltdowns during times like that when it was mum doing things than him or something. They're currently teaching her to try to have some skills in self care, not just for normality but so maybe in the future she only would need supervision in the bathroom instead of someone washing her for her. They have taught her to take herself to the toilet alone now, she wears pull-ups more as a precaution than anything, so I think it's possible she could learn to at least partially wash herself.

And last point- potty training video. Now I haven't watched it in a while so maybe I'm misremembering, but I don't believe they actually we're filming her peeing or pooping. It was the method of desensitizing her to sitting on the toilet and how you can teach a child with disabilities to eventually use a toilet instead of needing pull-ups. They also did a video of her with the ABA therapist showing how they're teaching her how to wash herself, where they went to the bathroom and gave her a sponge (still clothed etc) and asked her to show how she would use it. If they actually we're filming her shitting I would have a massive issue with that of course, but I could have sworn it wasn't that at all and it was just showing the method of desensitisation as Abbie previously would try to get up off the toilet before doing anything because she didn't understand the concept of the toilet.

I've worked with much more severely disabled children and adults that were toilet trained before her age. They did a deservice to her waiting so long to try to teach her that. Even in children/adults who won't sign bathroom you use the time method so that thye get used to having to go there. Most schools start that in their first classes with the disabled child.

This may have been addressed since this was posted, but there is no co-signer on the house. I was expecting to see Pigcilla's parents listed on there, but there was no guarantor or whatnot...

Tbh toilet training for autistic people varies depending on the person. Some autistic people don’t feel or don’t recognize bathroom signals until they’re messing themselves or peeing themselves or they get confused on what order to do things when they get to the toilet. There’s autistic people who for whatever reason can’t control that bodily function and their body lets it go when the sensation hits.

Thye ignore Abbie signing toilet so I think it’s a good thing she wears a PullUp because how many of her accidents are their fault for not taking her when she signals she has to go?
