Ash Vs. Evil Dead Stars Believe They Can Convince Bruce Campbell to Do Season 4 -

Bruce Campbell might say he's retired from playing Ash, but his Ash Vs. Evil Dead co-stars remain hopeful they can talk him out of retirement for one more go as the iconic horror hero. Between 2015 and 2018, Campbell appeared in 30 episodes of the Starz horror series for one last hurrah as his famous Evil Dead character. Though reviews for the series were strong, its limited viewership on Starz didn't do it any favors, and the show officially came to an end after three seasons, prompting Campbell to announce he would never play Ash again. Now, speaking about the series with Chuck Load of Comics, Campbell's co-stars are teasing a revival.

"We could have had a bigger audience were we on a platform like Hulu or Amazon or Netflix, but because we were on this cable subscription, it really limited the audience," says Ray Santiago, who co-starred with Campbell as Pablo on Ash vs. Evil Dead. He also points to the show's increased popularity once it began streaming on Netflix, which seems to support his point. Santiago also laments over the show ending prematurely, adding, "I was really looking forward to seeing where things were gonna go with the show, just because we had set up so many relationships. It was just all there to play with."

As more and more fans continue to discover Ash vs. Evil Dead, calls on social media to bring back the show for a fourth season have persisted for years. Star Dana DeLorenzo, who made up the show's "Ghost Beaters" along with Santiago and Campbell as badass Kelly Maxwell, is also right there with them with her own hopes for a series revival someday. "Well, I say, 'Never say never,'" DeLorenzo says, giving fans a glimmer of hope for new episodes. "Because the way things are going, I've been reading all these very terrifying things about our industry and just productions and things are being shelved and whatnot, so I honestly feel like never say never. There have been shows where they get cancelled but then they're picked up by another network."

Of course, the major obstacle in reviving Ash vs. Evil Dead would be in convincing Bruce Campbelll to slip back into the Evil Dead universe after publicly insisting he never would again. For what it's worth, DeLorenzo and Santiago seem confident they'll be able to talk him out of retirement for one more go as Ash. "I know Bruce has said he is in retirement, but I feel like Ray and I could convince him," DeLorenzo insists. Santiago backs her up by adding: "I think enough time has passed by. He just needs a good couple of - one or two years of just like chilling in the woods and not having the Boomstick in his hands, and then he starts to crave it, and it'll come back."

The possibility is also there for a spin-off of Ash vs. Evil Dead sans Campbell, and it would obviously need to be titled differently. Still, for as fun as Kelly & Pablo vs. Evil Dead sure sounds, what would be most groovy would be to have the entire group back together for a fourth season of Ash vs. Evil Dead. It may not be very likely at this point, but if you're a big fan, continue to keep those fingers crossed. Ash vs the Evil dead was a perfect accompanyment to the film trilogy, normally i'm against extending shows longer than their natural lifespan but i think this one easily has another series in it, especially if the Rami's are willing to get involved.

This is a sad story. I didn't realize that Bruce Campbell had sworn off the character. I get it though, I get it. I mean, he's getting... He's old. Doesn't have that charm anymore. I'm guessing it hurts to wake up in the morning and the only satisfaction he gets is it hurts less then when he goes to bed the night before... probably alone. And I mean its tough for everyone! Ash is a cultural treasure, an icon. Bruce Campbell is his physical representation in the minds of millions of people. Ash is going to live forever. Bruce is... well probably too much of a geezer to even pay for a proper Viking funeral. Of course I'll take all that back if he does season 4.

Keep it dead. The third season was awful, torpedoed by behind-the-scenes troubles. The story veered right back into territory covered in the previous episodes. It was garbage, adding in that terrible actress as Ash's unknown daughter when the original story involved time travel, ending with the revelation that Kelly is actually Ash's daughter. The new girl was a monkey wrench and the tone & chemistry were ruined, at least for me. It was just more of the same, with none of the progression that the previous showrunner was working on. Mark Verheiden, the seson 3 showrunner, is an awful writer and has been attached to a nothing but shitty projects.

If they bring anything of the original Evil Dead back, I say move on from this series and do something new, even if Campbell is involved.

Bruce wouldn't do it unless they gave him a dump truck full of money. At any rate, I'd rather see an Evil Dead 4 or Ash VS Jason VS Freddy VS Pinhead VS Michael Myers VS Candyman VS Wishmaster.

And no, I wouldn't watch a spinoff show without Bruce.

Evil Dead vs all the characters from lame sequels of horror franchises.

Jane Levy - Evil Dead
Roy - Friday the 13th
Tiffany - Child's Play
Jackie Earle Haley - Nightmare on Elm Street
Silver Shamrock Novelties - Halloween
Logan - Saw

Season 3 was alright. The ending was not even close to acceptable as an ending to all of Bruce Campbell's run as as Ash, but it was not exactly a disaster like I expected. I always wanted the plot they abandoned, though.

Anyway, I would love a fourth season to invalidate the ending as a stupid dream or something. But I don't think it would happen. Bruce seemed angry that the show was not being treated right by Starz.

I recall him saying he was getting too old for Ash around the time of Man With The Screaming Brain.

That's actually kind of why Ash vs. Evil Dead worked as well as it did when it did, all the jokes about how old and fat (but still awesome) Ash had gotten.

I really enjoyed the last episode and I thought it ended in a good spot, I don't think there's much point in picking up after that, and I doubt they'd have the budget to continue from that point properly.

The Evil Dead remake was great, and I believe a sequel to that was toyed with at some point. That might be slightly more interesting than dragging poor BC out of retirement yet again, but I suppose the moment's passed. The franchise has to end eventually, why not now?

It would probably be best to just leave this series as it is. Season 3 didn't end to badly. Just with Hollywood how it is now, you never know what they might write into it!
