I don’t blame them for walking one bit. At this point, it seems like everyone thinks the their job is supposed to be answering calls, asking the offenders nicely if they’ll consent to being arrested, and then to just shrugging and walking away if the offender disagrees. Somebody’s committing a DUI and is getting combative when confronted about it? Gee, too bad, better just let him go, wouldn’t want to hurt him or anything.

Made me think of that horrendeous new Watchmen show, where cops have their guns in a locking mechanism, that prevents them from drawing without permission from their HQ.

Police pay isn't bad at all in a lot of places. It's not the low pay that makes it retarded to be a cop; it's the threat of having your life ruined for doing your job well.

It's bad in these cities. Atlanta PD is around $20/hr until you move up in the ranks. NYPD officer is about the same. Yes you can make more with OT but per hour the pay is shit for what you have to deal with. State Trooper 1st class in my blue state is less then $20hr. They make all their money on OT and doing "extra duty" on construction sites. The deal used to be you put up with shitty pay because after 20 years you got a pension for life after that. Now thats gone but the pay is still shit. .

The state transit bus drivers make almost $10/hr more and their union has managed to keep their pension plans.

1. They work with the company/management/administration and work with them to fuck over their "members" (like the teachers union)
2. They work against the company/management/administration and fuck them over (like the transit and construction unions)

The police unions normally stand alone and are always fighting with the government leadership because the politicians shit all over the police. See the NYPD union vs the NYC government for the type of relationship I am talking about.

The transit union's parent union owns the democrat party and are major donors. It is the same parent union that covers the DMV, state bureaucrats, state university system etc. Kinda like the SCIU.

The teachers unions regularly fuck over good teachers financially by siphoning teacher pay raises to themselves and school administrators while protecting bad ones because it would lead to legal trouble for the schools.

You have to be a complete retard to become a cop in these cities in this day and age.
The pay is poor. You used to do it because of the pension. Now the pension funds are broke and gone. Most new hires just get a shitty 401K wile still having to contribute to the lifetime pension funds of the boomers who retired to florida after putting in their 20 years.

And now when something happens the city tosses you right under the bus. These cops are "fired", they will have to pay for their own legal defense. Any savings they had are gone, collage funds, homes, retirement...poof. Fucked for life even if you win in court.
That is a lot of risk for a job that per-hour pays less then the bus driver.

I think that is the plan. A purge of the PD of those who are not loyal to the regime.

Fill their place with people who will know when to take one for the team. In exchange they look the other way for certain behaviors. The "police are a gang" rhetoric didn't start for no reason.

Do you think they have a choice? You can't work as a public teacher without being in the union and the union regularly strong arms teachers to "protest" for higher pay for this exact reason. Teachers do see a "pay raise" but its just penny's on the dollar while the dollar just conveniently goes missing with the administrators and union officials.
