Feels over reals is far older and far more pervasive than anyone will ever care to admit. Those who fail to learn history are doomed to repeat it. Plot twist: as are those who don't fail to learn it.

To be fair, Twerpy Tony was also Supernintendo of the State DPI.Tell me about it. Our Governor is only known for being the ex-superintendent of Milwaukee Public Schools. Already tracking to be much less than transparent.
This is no longer true. Janus Vs. AFSCME made public union dues non mandatory. You can opt out of paying but still retain the collective bargaining agreement and union protection. AFT was shitting themselves in fear when that passed, as was AFSCME. While the unions decry it, many see it as a method of forcing the unions to work with employees instead of with management, and slowly more and more employees are opting out.Do you think they have a choice? You can't work as a public teacher without being in the union and the union regularly strong arms teachers to "protest" for higher pay for this exact reason. Teachers do see a "pay raise" but its just penny's on the dollar while the dollar just conveniently goes missing with the administrators and union officials.
And anytime funding goes down, they cut teachers while keeping administration. Eventually the bloat gets to the point that the district is paralyzed. All school board meetings are is discussions about how much they can get away with when paying themselves and fucking over the teachers.
Everyone wants to know how schools are underfunded? They aren't, they are corrupt. So corrupt that no amount of money could ever fund them.
The average teacher makes under 40k a year - definitely not a ton of money. In some of those states that's not even a liveable wage. I've known several teachers who had part time jobs during the school year.I must live in a different America, because on the one I'm from all a teacher has to do to receive both a metaphorical and literal blowjob is say "I'm a teacher". They're revered above all professions except maybe athletes. They also make more money than the average person and work far fewer hours in a year. I've never seen anyone point to a concrete, statistical example of teachers being the coveted oppressed underclass.
That's starting teacher salary. No entry level job pays well. The average teacher makes under 40k a year - definitely not a ton of money. In some of those states that's not even a liveable wage. I've known several teachers who had part time jobs during the school year.
The workload probably balances out but I wouldn't say they work "far less." They make more than the average person but that's not a great comparison. Do they make more than the average person with a comparable degree? I don't know, but I'd guess not.
Right. I never said that teachers make a killing and then go home to their yachts, but they make more than most people, and most people don't get 4 months of vacation time every year. That's starting teacher salary. No entry level job pays well.
I looked into this a while back. Once you take into account all their benefits and being off for a third of the year, the average teacher mid-career makes like 75k. They don't make great pay in all places, but teachers are generally whiny bitches and make more than the regional average income nearly everywhere.
The entire family is guilty!!
Are we just doomed as a human race to go in cycles? Like even when we know the nightmare of communism and Marxism we still repeat the same mistakes ad infinitum after a long enough timeline.
Seems they've gone back to work but have completely halted proactive policing, so crime is 'down' as a result. The media seems to be actively avoiding talking about anything in Atlanta other than Rayshard Brooks and how he dindu nuffin and was kept down by the racist justice system.Any updates on the walkout itself or have they all gone back to work like the white supremacists they are?
Small town departments have less ranks, titles, and other complications than big cities, along with having less crime to police. They tend to enjoy their jobs and get paid more. Big cities require massive forces of underpaid workers doing dirty shit, so they have to hire lower-tier men. The best cops are sucked up into the higher echelons, leaving behind volatile douchebags and upset workers.I would think it's easier to be a cop in a smaller town than in a bit city like Atlanta.
It sounds like cops are just government babysitters that deal with shit from other cops, the government, and their paymasters.
Police reform should include more funding, more training, and more leniency. I thought teachers were underappreciated in this country. It's teachers AND cops.
All this shit is going to exasperate the issue, as seen here.
The municipal PD where I live has the reputation of being the most poorly paid and bureaucracy-hamstrung in the metro area and everyone getting into local law enforcement is encouraged to join the Sheriff's Department or any of the smaller suburbs surrounding the city. The city was already having recruitment and retention issues before this as people would just join to get a paid academy and a POST certification before jumping ship to a nearby agency and it's only going to get worse for them. I assume virtually every other major blue city from San Francisco, Portland, Seattle to Dallas is exactly the same.Small town departments have less ranks, titles, and other complications than big cities, along with having less crime to police. Anti-cop demonstrations, rhetoric, and attitude will dissuade even more possible employees, so departments will attract more people who enjoy the power aspect of the job. All this shit is going to exasperate the issue, as seen here.
Many smaller towns either divide the work with or delegate the entirety of policing work with the local Sheriff's Department or other broader scope policing body. I've been to a couple places where you'd see a "Bumfuck Police Department" cruiser here and there but anything beyond the most basic or ceremonial duties were delegated to Deputies or State Troopers.Small town departments have less ranks, titles, and other complications than big cities, along with having less crime to police. Cops are one of the most important parts of our entire society and they're regularly demonized and treated like absolute shit. It's the American version of the Tommy Atkins poem.I would think it's easier to be a cop in a smaller town than in a bit city like Atlanta.
