The July elections last month created a flood of 'independents' and 'write-in' candidates in the Chamber of Deputies of Australatina as well as portions of the Senate. This is just a symptom to what's truly going on; the caciques and caudillos, most former revolutionaries, have accrued enough power to effectively dictate policy to the young and weak democracy.
This wasn't an overnight thing; a good proportion of deputies, ministers, and senators were either directly voted among the oligarchs or in their pocket from the beginning. They had one of the highest totals in 2016, only beaten out by a Derecha Republicana-Anglican Union coalition. It just took the 2017 Famine that rocked the nation due to a rapidly fluctuating economy to give these strongmen a chance. Simple bribery went a long way into this journey of directly controlling the nation's legislation.
Deciding to consolidate this power, these strongmen and oligarchs decided to resurrect KOFO (or OFOK as it was known by the Spanish speaking members) as a political party. KOFO was an anti-communist cell that started originally from the Ciscadio population before rapidly gaining cross-ethnic popularity as the old regime continued to mismanage the country and oppress its people. Their goals were vague, and it was really just removing the Partida Obrero Maoista (POM) from power.
With this in mind, three particularly strong contenders have stepped forward:
The front man at the moment is former Minister of Industry d'Acero. Jose d'Acero (@Broseph Stalin ) is one of the most powerful caciques in the north of the country and has cross ethnic line support. He was Minister of Industry before resigning in disgust over the poor handling of the famine, which disproportionately affected his neck of the woods. He is popular among the Ciscadios due to his ardent defense of bilingualism and his demands for improved conditions in the poorest region in the already destitute country. He has allegedly been connected to a series of politically motivated killings of former Maoista loyalists, but there isn't much proof. A militant Rothbardian, his leadership would tilt KOFO towards a libertarian, near Anarcho-Capitalist party.
Another contender for the leadership is Jaima Alfaro (@Jaimas ). Alfaro is a fairly eloquent, if longwinded revolutionary and is the most intellectual among the three. He is an admirer of the Porfiriato period of Mexico as well as Huey Long's Share Our Wealth program of the US, believing that many of the ills of Australatina were due to an inept bureaucracy, poor government structures, and a desire for ideological purity that ran against how progress and prosperity is actually attained. He is running a far more nationalist and populist campaign, a near opposite to d'Acero's minimalist approach. He has on occasion been compared to Benito Mussolini or Adolf Hitler by partisans, which has made the caudillo laugh in amusement.
The last, and strangest, candidate is Florencio Azarola (@flossman ). He is unlike the other members of KOFO in that he isn't an established revolutionary or leader. He was just a simple citizen who decided to fight against Las Papas when his regime could not keep control over the people any longer. He became known during Operation Bolivar during the taking of Santa Judas. He has no real stances or opinions, making him a possible dark horse. He in fact has only one pledge if he should become President or Premier; he pledges to detonate a nuclear device to create a radioactive pit in the middle of nowhere. From there he will make it his goal to extradite former dictator Delici back to Australatina so he can personally throw him into said pit via helicopter. This odd pledge has earned him a cult following among the younger voters.
The oligarchs and strongmen are plotting what to do with their spoils, and they convene at a series of bars to sound out which man is their man.

tl;dr vote for someone to basically because Autistan's Mugabe or whatever
