Expert opinions are considered some of the lowest levels of scientific evidence.
We've known that some people on the spectrum are, unfortunately, very "low functioning" since who knows when. Sometimes scientific studies and expert opinions just figure out the obvious that everyone knows already.
I think this thread is linked to autism.

Type in "autism is linked to" in google and you have enough fodder for a thread the size of the "what if" thread. They link it to the paternal genes, they link it to pollution, they link it to everything.
I'm gonna sperg and sjw a bit but...
1. A lot of non-verbal autistics are written off as mentally retarded who later, when they gain communication tools (like tablets and whatnot), turn out to have average to above average intelligence.
2. Even ones who are mentally retarded don't deserve to be treated as subhuman burdens the way they often are.
Sauce: actual diagnosed sperg who's spent years lurking autistic communities/blogs/etc.
