I made this thread so we can offer support and guidance to all of our friends with autism, or Pervasive Developmental Disorder-NOS, I am not autistic, but have been diagnosed with aspergers in the past, but I think that it would be beneficial to have thread to support people with autism or similarly related disorders.

I get really upset whenever I'm called into work last minute and it's not written down on the schedule, how do you people deal with unexpected changes of plans, or plans being sprung on you?

Yeah, I'm no longer diagnosed and my aspergers diagnoses has expired.

This thread can help other's diagnosed with autism become as functional as me, and by offering support to these people, they can get better and improve to my level.

I don't have aspergers anymore, but I have been diagnosed. I made this thread so I could offer support to the autistic population here.

Does anyone else here really like pictures? Whenever I am anxious then I look at pictures with a high concentration of green colors, and It calms me down.

I also like vibrant hues of blues? What colors do you like looking at?

I'm proof that with proper support, and threads such as this, then autism can be cured.

I guess in milder cases, you can train yourself to behave less stereotypically autistic?

Serious answer but with the proper help and services autistic children can be taught how to socialize and function in society but the autism will always live on and they'll probably be obsessed with trains or sonic

Not really, the primary measure of "rehabilitation" is level of functioning in normal society as I understand it. If someone "grows out" of an ASD diagnosis they probably didn't have it in the first place and were just poorly socialized.
Either it is a pervasive neurological disorder or it isn't, if it is it cannot be "grown out of"and can only ever be managed; not treated.

Well, I'm not surprised. Trouble detecting sarcasm is a symptom of Autism Spectrum Disorders. They made a good choice by posting here?

How do you two handle unexpected changes in routine? Do you have any tips or advice?
