Why do we keep trying to adapt anime into live action? That shit doesn’t translate.
Anime is like a trap: It only works in 2D.
Never seen the original (it came after I was too old for Nickelodeon) I just know it has a spergy, cringey fanbase.

I mean Doug Walker is a fan so...
The original series had some flaws but was overall very good. The Legend of Korra on the other hand was a clusterfuck.

Plus as I understand it the cultures they were based on didn't have the Catholic and Jewish attitude towards homosexuality.
It's just fan fiction writers assigning generic bad guy traits to characters who we already know were villains. It's just redundant and pointless. And the kinds of people who would say "Fire Nation did nothing wrong" won't suddenly be swayed if they found out the hotbois banned homosex. It would probably just make them like the Fire Nation more.

Shoving sex perversion into a kid's show and mentally masturbating the manchildren who are forcing the show to follow their autistic headcanon means of course that the Genocide of the Air Nomads never happened. Fire Nation always had the land it had and ignore those dirty Earth Kingdom refugees who say otherwise.

Honestly even with the comet I'm not sure the Fire Nation could incinerate that many of them that fast. Especially given the highly disparate kill/death ratio in favor of the Air Nomads in the one examined battle site. But yeah sure muh six gorrillion.
No you see, the holocaust of the Air Nomads never happened because if that was the case, then clearly they wouldn't exist as a people, but they came back somehow. Ergo no sixty majinion dead monks.

I'm positive the only type of enjoyment I'll get out of this is Schadenfreude. I almost want Netflix to do some Death Note level localization to this remake, it'd be hilarious if the show would set place in contemporary Chinatown starring Aaron, a young air wizard who is found frozen inside a mall fridge by siblings Katherine and Scottie and must escape the clutches of the evil Prince Zack and his jovial Uncle Ivan.

I really can't see any practical incentive to do this, their isnt anything it can really bring to the party. Korra was mediocre steam punk boredom and ultimatly detrimental to the franchise but their's at least an attempt to do something. What exactly does remaking the last airbender in a medium where it's more difficult to depict the world actually achieve?

Also aside from those stupid mechs Empress Kuriva did nothing wrong. Fuck 'Republic' city and Korra, poor mans Superman with a poor mans gay relationship for a poor mans 20's America. The Empress is only one trying to make sure you don't get gang raped by bandits and all your shit stolen.

Kuvira was an autistic tyrant who was triggered at the thought of people having freedom.

Compared to everyone else she was a genius, The next best thing was the corrupt Republic which buckled the moment she brought Megatron to the party and had to constantly rely on Korra to bail them out.
The whole world is overly dependent on the one person with more super powers than everyone bailing them out.

Yet another reason Zaheer did nothing wrong.

That is an outdated theory that's nonetheless still taught in highschools. Genetic and linguistic data as well as archeology suggests multiple migration waves. The Inuit-Aleut speakers are by consensus the most recent non-European arrivals in North America. I can even provide crappy wikipedia screencaps too if you want.
Wow really?

I never understood why people think the Fire Nation is some 1:1 expy of Feudal Japan. Barely anything about it is distinctly Japanese-inspired in the show other than a few superficial elements like some bits of architecture or the Blue Spirit's kabuki mask.
Not exactly 1:1, but it's a logical comparison since the Earth Kingdom is the most like China. The hundred year war seems like an apt comparison to the evolution of Imperial Japan, with the Japanese industrializing first and spending most of the later 1800s and early 1900s trying to get an upper hand on China and conquer what they could (eventually succeeding in getting Korea). Then in WW2 they finally invaded China and killed millions.

Again, it's definitely not a 1:1 allegory since nothing in this show is really a 100% match to anything in real life, but if we look at what was going on during the industrial revolution era (which roughly matches the technology of the ATLA world), Japan seems to be the closest comparison to the Fire Nation.

Fire Nation is more like China than anything else in terms of society, culture, martial arts, and government. There's very little Japanese influence in any of the civilizations in this world; almost all of it is taken from China and Korea. The "Fire Nation = Imperial Japan" allegory always struck me as complete nonsense. People just project that culture onto it because of reckless expansionism. And even in that sense the Fire Nation is more like the British Empire than really any period in Japan's history.

The fire nation did have the japanese style hairbuns for their men.

But than again I am not the rice-eye expert here so I could be wrong.
