I really hope they decided to disregard the comics and have Zuko marry Mai, or at least reveal that Mai is Izumi's mother. But I'm not counting on it.

I'm just glad that the new Fire Lord's name isn't "Honora" because "lololZukosobsessedwithhonor!" That wasn't even Zuko who was yelling "HONOR" at the top of his lungs, that was an actor playing an incredibly exaggerated version of him in a breather episode. Yes, Zuko wanted to restore his honor, but some of the fandom seems to accept the exaggerated version as what he was actually like, ignoring why he was obsessed with restoring his honor in the first place. Zuko didn't just shoehorn the word into every other sentence.

I hope that Korra is able to reconnect with the past avatars in some way. It's really sad that in season 2, they introduce Wan, who is a great character only to permanently kill him off along with Aang.

I just finished up season three. Ohh my goodness, that was an amazing season. It's certainly picked up the series and opened up so many interesting aspects. I'm eager to start watching season four as soon as I can.

I can't believe we're already halfway through the final season and we have yet to get a two parter. I was half expecting "The Battle of Zaofu"would be one...

I'm slowly working through season two and it's been really jumbled, but I do kind of like Wan and his little deer cat friend.

I really liked him too! : ( But then I realized it was because he reminded me of this guy:

Anyway, I completely forgot that Korra was airing. : ( I'll have to catch up!

While I think the visuals may have implied it, The ending was more open ended than the one to Avatar: The Last Airbender. We don't know exactly what happened since the camera panned upwards, but I subscribe to the idea that it was. Korrasami ending. Considering the way the two played off each other, particularly in Books 1 and 3, while keeping their boy troubles in mind, it felt like a natural progression. I'm not going to lie, while I try to remain neutral towards shippings, I did warm up to the idea of Korra and Asami getting together.

That being said, Nickelodeon is a kid's network and that these episodes weren't made on the fly. Still, I like to think that shifting online was a blessing in disguise. After the show went online, it felt like Bryke were able to tell the story they wanted to tell("Remembrances" notwithstanding). I mean, we saw some of the most graphic onscreen deaths in the franchise, then we get an ending like this. Somehow, I don't see this kind of thing happening were the show still on TV. We had human deaths in Airbender, but usually, it was either the aftermath (e.g. Gyatso) or implied by the visuals (e.g. Fire Nation ships getting sliced up by La/Aang during The Siege of the North). And even while Jet was confirmed dead later on, one could argue that his death was open ended for a time.

Other thoughts on the finale; it was awesome seeing Hiroshi come back, since his presence was still referenced in Book 2. And given a photo that surfaced of Daniel Dae Kim with Bryke at the recording studio, it wouldn't have made sense to call him back to record for just one episode. I thought his bits about strategizing the way to defeat Kuvira were very well written.

Varrick and Zhu Li...awesome. I was half expecting that right before they would take flight, Varrick would call out Zhu Li, pull on a pair of goggles, and say "Do. The Thing." The wedding bit was hilarious, and it was a great send off for Varrick.

Mako...if trying to lightningbend at those spirit vines didn't redeem him as a character, I don't know what will. Though if you ask me, the Ba Sing Se arc and Republic City Hustle shorts already did that.

Kuvira...was a great villain, don't get me wrong, but in hindsight I think they could've done a better job setting her up as a villain. When I'm hearing her talk about how she wanted to make the Earth Empire a place where the could live without being labeled outcasts, I'm thinking "what about those fire and waterbenders you threw in those camps? What about the 'dissidents' you also imprisoned" I feel like that bit in particular was done just to set her up as a Hitler parallel, when I think setting her up as a Soviet Union/Chin the Conqueror parallel was enough. At best, Kuvira was a great villain, but at worst her characterization felt heavy handed.

I'm interested in what will become of Prince Wu now that he's abolished the Earth Monarchy. I'm guessing he'll still have political power as an advisor to the new government, or become an ambassador like Zuko

Lin and Suyin, it was awesome seeing these two kick ass together again, but the question still remains...who is Suyin's father? My money's on Satoru from The Rift trilogy. A link to a picture below

Also, who knew Tahno could play a mean trombone? My new headcanon is that if Tahno didn't return to the pro-bending circuit, he and the other Wolfbats went on to become a jazz band.

Hell, even "fucking Hasook" returned! And those two idiot cops from Book 2 and Tarrlok's council page.

The whole thing really felt like a finale with almost all of the main characters along with their friends and allies making an appearance, speaking or not.

A new spirit portal? I didn't see that one coming. It was awesome though to see the spirits get their own back on Kuvira with that spirit energy nuke thing.

So here's what I think is funny, has anyone noticed that many fan predictions from Book 1 weren't far off from what happened later on? People thought Amon was trying to establish himself as the anti-Avatar. Then Unalaq comes along in Book 2 and what does he do now? Then when the Mecha tanks were revealed, people thought Korra was going to fight Amon piloting a giant one in a dai kaijuu-esque battle, and if you've seen the last three episodes, I'm sure you know where I'm going with this.

I think that while Bryke stated that after Book 1 the next three seasons would be standalone, I think that's far from the case. The way actions from Book 1 had lasting consequences that affected Book 2, and then said actions carrying over into Books 3 and 4 showed a lot more planning then Bryke let on. The villains may have changed, but they all had lasting presences in some form, perhaps moreso than the likes of Zhao, Long Feng, or even Azula.

When I saw the reflection of Korra's spirit staring at her in the Spirit World, I was half expecting that somehow Korra had reconnected with Aang and Co., but I'm glad that wasn't the case. I think in retrospect, severing Korra's connection to the other avatars was for the best. Consider what Tenzin said at the end of the finale about Korra having accomplished more in her young age than most avatars did in their lifetimes, possibly including his own father mind you.

It wasn't perfect, but overall, I'd say Korra's story had a tighter story than Aang's. We got to see the story of Avatar go in directions many of us may have never thought possible. What it lacked in pacing, it made up for in beautiful animation, great banter, some wonderful character bits, and the way it dug deep into pre existing lore. It was a bit of a bumpy ride early on, but I think that seeing the way the story matured with its viewers made it all worth it. I think part of this may be down to the fact that I was watching Korra in my late teens-early twenties, while I watched Aang during my pre-teens-early teens.

Overall, even if your not a fan of Avatar: The Last Airbender, I would highly suggest watching The Legend of Korra. It's a bit iffy at the start, but if you go into it with the right mindset and prior knowledge of what went on behind the scenes, it gets better.

End of Avatar gushing/sperging.

I marathoned the first two seasons in July and then watched the latter two as they aired. So I pretty much spent the second half of 2014 watching LoK. And I'm really glad I did! Having never really gotten into TLA, I greatly enjoyed Korra. It gives me hope that the future may still be bright for Western animation that isn't either a sitcom or Adventure Time-esque. Let's have less Breadwinners on TV and more Avatars!
