I didn't see a thread for this here so I figured I'd share the news. Awesome Games Done Quick 2014, a charity event supporting the Prevent Cancer Foundation, begins tomorrow (January 5).
For those who haven't heard of the event, it's a bi-annual charity drive put on by SpeedDemosArchive.com and Speedruns Live. The two groups bring together some of the best video game speedrunners in the world to beat as many games as possible over the course of one week. This year they have 115 games planned. During certain games they'll hold donation goals for certain challenges for things like beating levels blindfolded, getting 100% completion, or playing on the hardest difficulty. World records for beating games are routinely set each event.

It's a great event that has raised over $1,000,000 total since it began. Lots of fun to watch and participate in! (Personally, I am currently brushing up on a couple of runs myself so I might one day get to perform a run at one of the charity drives!)
