Bad or weird book adaptations of other media -

Mobile Suit Gundam Confrontation was a weird one alright, the novel has Amuro (protagonist so far) get killed by a stray shoot by a random nobody, Char, Kycillia and other selected pilots join forces to attack side 3 where Girhen is killed and then Char betray and kill Kycillia and I think relations between side 3 and Earth end up different than canonically
oh and Amuro sometime before dying fucks Sayla and wears a medallion (think, I don't remember this too well) with her pubes in it. That's actuall[y a thing in the book/SPOILER] I mean yeah it ended before the canon story ended but yeah that was something alright
So what weird or bad book adaptations based on other media did you read or know about?

Don’t forget Amuro also upgrades the RX-78-2 to the RX-78-3 “G3” which added magnetic coating to the joints as a way of compensating for the increased friction due to his newtype reflexes.

So he does it or that's something that doesn't happen in the canon? I remember something canonically similar but by the engineers instead

Planet X, by Michael Jan Friedman. This is a book for looking at, not for reading. Please do not read this book.
Why? I mean what makes it that people shouldn't read it?

It happens in the novel. It also had improved thrusters. Tomino wanted the G3 carried over to the anime but the producers thought a grey-white Gundam wouldn’t be marketable as a toy.

It's not awful so far as crossover fanfictions go, but the cover art is definitely the highlight of the story. Picard and Storm kind of have a romance, and Picard talks with Xavier on the holodeck. (Hint, they look almost identical...) Nah. There's nothing to prevent anyone who really wants to from reading it, it's not offensively bad, just a poorly enacted plot. Again, the cover art is the best part. Hence me calling it a book for looking at.

the adaption of dawn of war by CS Goto. They are infamous for being god awful.

And then they fuck it up at the end making it a game by Q & The Beyonder

Seems like a good place to mention the Baldur's Gate adaptations.
It gets worse when that version of the Bhaalspawn pc was made canon in 5th Edition D&D in a playtest adventure that sucks, I mean suddenly there is another Bhaalspawn (despite it being clear at the end of Throne of Bhaal the pc was the last one) and canonically one of them kill the other and poof! Bhaal is back (that wasn't how this worked until then, see the end of Throne of Bhaal for what i mean) so canonically the struggles of the Bhaalspawn pc in the Baldur's Gate series pointless. Then they decided "Let's make Baldur's Gate 3 but make a D&D 5th edition adventure as a prequel https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Baldur's_Gate:_Descent_Into_Avernus (the adventure in question and with track record wanna bet it will be required to understand what's going in Baldur's Gate 3?)
Shit got worse

Doing the runes out was fun.
Cover art isn't really the theme of this thread, but if we're talking Hobbit covers, this is the only valid one:

A publishing company named Ace Books was printing and selling pirated version of all of Tolkien's books, and Ballantine, the company that actually had the rights, was desperate to get the authorized editions out before Ace stole their market. As a result, Barbara Remington, the cover artist, didn't have a chance to actually read any of the books before drawing covers for them. The results are these weird landscape covers.

There's a novelization of the Famicom game Final Fantasy II.

The weird thing is reading the novelization is a LOT better than playing the game.
