I see what you're saying but I think the game has just changed drastically since those days. I'm sure there are still people out there doing this old school, Slippin' Jimmy type of shit offline but mass access to the Internet has opened up scammers to a bigger market of suckers. The rules and the equipment have changed but the game fundamentally remains the same. What once was a whore that would rob their sleeping John is now an e-thot, what once was the King and Duke type of conmen are now e-grifters like Baked. The more traditional types surely still exist to a lesser extent, but most of these low to mid level fleecer kinds of people now do the majority of their scheming online in my opinion. A lot of the shit I see being done online that is obviously a scam can't legally even be considered as such.
