Actually, there’s tons of bad media out there with great soundtracks. Sonic ‘06, Foodfight!, even The Emoji Movie managed to grab a nice selection of licensed songs. Usually a bad soundtrack is merely insult to injury.

So what's the point of the dragon if it just gets immediately outclassed by other costumes because it's useless? Why not just have the useful costumes in the game?
In theory, you’d start the level with the shitty version of the costume as a way to get introduced to its power, then unlock the good version later on, possibly in a different level. I think this is the design philosophy they were going for, but the level design is so shitty that it doesn’t make any meaningful impact.
It's a one button game, why even do this? It's to hard? Is this game made for literal retards?
They could have made 40 costumes easy if at least half of them had a jump button making them multi functional. What's so hard about 2 buttons if controlling the camera is a harder concept to grasp for more people?

I wish Oddworld got this much autism poured into it, rather than it being confined to the outliers because every character is intentionally grotesque in some fashion. Tumblr can't be drawn into it despite it already having a morbidly obese genderfluid Queen (Sam) who lays all the slave eggs that belong to the same species as the hero character (Abe) and the whole anti-corporation message that permeates the series. The main bad guy is also an evil Grotesque queen who also can't be supported under her own weight and needs a whole machine just to move her around, and her mother who's afflicted with space bug diabetes from eating too much alien caviar is cryogenically frozen and can only be thawed when shit hits the fan, is also another villain in the series. So that's 3 fucking fat asses, an ugly hero, slaves rising up to destroy a corporation, and even an anti-colonialist ending for later games.
Soulstorm is decent and Strangers Wrath HD was also a good port.

Again, Balan was a game that had a lot of potential and I'm honestly more willing than others to give Yuji Naka the benefit of the doubt since both he and the game itself seem to have come from a good place, but the actual developers behind it just weren't the best ones for the job. I guess he had Arzest involved because Naoto Ohshima was part of it and having Naka and Ohshima under the same roof again was possibly the game's primary selling point, but doing so ultimately did more harm than help for his and the game's reputations.
I'd love to see the concepts introduced here expanded upon in a potential sequel. Too bad that door is locked shut since the game sold like utter shit, making it both a critical and financial flop. Or maybe they'll pull a Bubsy and have the sequel come out 20 years later. Who knows?
