Hello fellow 4 stringers! I was having a few drinks and smoking some exceptional reefer (WA, USA bitches) while listening to some of my favorite heavier bass bands, and I wondered, there's got to be some Kiwi bassists out there, and who better to discuss music with? I figure this is an open discussion for bassists and all things bass (strings only plox). Favorite bands, technique, personal displays, etc. Do your worst!

Sorry I don't know how to spoiler...

Thanks for posting that Victor Wooten video, I'm listening to it right now.

As for me, my favorite bassist is Mark Deutsch.

Dude's incredible, and there's nowhere close to enough people talking about how incredible he is.

*You might wanna put your own videos in Spoiler Tags, otherwise this thread could take awhile to load.

Dance Gavin Dance has an incredibly underrated bass player. Of course, I can't find any of his actual bass tracks, so here's a kid making a few mistakes.

That tremolo technique :jacewtf:

Four stronger with tiny hands, here!

the guitarist community was really intimidating I find. I can play guitar just as well but bassists tend to be less off putting and more modest than guitarists. My favorite band to play is the talking heads. Found a Job has a legendary bassline and I think I'll be tabbing some talking heads songs on ug soon.

I don't play bass, but I do have an affinity for Les Claypool from Primus. Mostly because half the time I can't be certain if it's a human playing a bass guitar or if it's a space alien trying to communicate.
