Funny enough, bot battles actually make me a lot more interested in this since I'd rather just do some co-op against bots with some friends.
The fact that they can be filler for missing players is also good, won't make the maps feel empty.

Were it not for it having less content than BFV, I might be cautiously optimistic about it.

Barring something catastrophic like Battlefront II's initial microtransactions, I can't see this being much of a shit show.

Open loadouts are gonna be a major issue. Hero classes I can live with since they are still classes just we are forced to use a hero there but weapons not being class restricted feels wrong to me. It is gonna lead to bad meta issues Engineers can get a nice infantry killing AR and rockets for tanks for example.

I don't understand why we can't just choose the gadgets/abilities like you can in Gears of War 5.

Being forced to use a character you don't like just to use certain abilities is nonsense, terrible decision.

Maybe they could have put more effort into it instead of removing it entirely?

I wouldn't have even minded as much if they didn't try to make less multiplayer content than BFV.
Maybe, but they likely would have hired some dumbass ex-Games Journo to write the script. Oh, wait, didn't they already to do that for Battlefront 2?

The only reason I agree removing it is dumb is because it kind of comes off like them no longer caring about the franchise. Which... has been evident given just how little fucks they've given since 5 and we really shouldn't be surprised they went hero mode given the characters ELITES they released for 5 near the tail end.

what people usually ignore is that no one needs a campaign for contemporary or ww2 shit. everybody knows the setting and everything around it (it's not like they get creative and do someone else than russians, since china is off limits and middle east would require asymmetric design). for future or scifi even a shitty campaign can help to explain wtf is going one - but then 2142 did it with a 3 minute trailer, so there's that.

I'm gonna go ahead and say something incredibly cynical. I don't think Generation Z has any idea what the fuck happened in Iraq much less WW2. I also don't believe DICE can deliver a decent narrative for either.

Although I understand and agree with your assessment, but I genuinely have no fucking faith in the present generations.

I don't care for the specialist characters crap. I like it better when the soldiers are just generic infantrymen with gear related to their class/role. I like how Bad Company 2 did it, still soldiers but distinct enough to know what class they are. All weapons available to all classes sounds easy to abuse. Imagine a sniper giving himself ammo where he sits. Weather also seems gimmicky and a bad sign of battle royale shit.

All of that being said, bots actually interest me. Bots are fun for me because you can fire up a match at any time and FPS games tend to not keep a population for very long these days so I'll always have a full match. I still play old BF2 and Forgotten Hope 2 with bots and while the bots can be quite dumb, it can be fun if you think of it as a single player game, so here's hoping the A.I. in this will be convincingly human.

Yeah, gonna sadly agree here. The amount of reeing in response to Six Days in Fallujah is evidence. Not that that's entirely their fault since so many people have a vested interest in making the US out to be the worst villains since Hitler when it comes to Iraq.

God, it's more underwhelming than I thought. 10 minutes into the future setting (because that totally worked for Advanced Warfare and Ghosts), classes tied to hero characters, hero character bullshit in general so that Dice can make shitty battle passes, any class can use any weapon, and inklings of a battle royale mode. Might as well just call the game Call of Duty: 2042.

I don't give a fuck what anyone says, BF 2142 was a great game.

That being said, this is probably just going to be ass.

It's funny that gaming journos are losing their minds over Dice saying it isn't political despite having climate change as a backdrop, because that was the backstory to BF2142 which made 15 years ago when climate alarmism was nowhere near as bad as it is today and was simply an excuse to have 2 factions fighting over the remaining warm land. In fact, this game might even be a prequel to 2142, which would be great.

The journos are either purposely ignoring this fact or are genuinely unaware of this and are once again proving they have no place writing their shit because they have no idea what they're talking about.

Anyway, the trailer genuinely didn't make me feel anything at all. It was like one of those "only in Battlefield" montages but professionally made and not real. I think a lot of people are just grateful it's better than the trashfire trailer that was BFV's (me included tbh). Hopefully we'll see some gameplay soon and see what we're in for. The hero shooter elements seem out of place, but they basically just seem to be the regular classes but with names and personalities so whatever.

Dice only mentioned that since

1. CoD does it to avoid complaints and many other devs too

2. Their last mainline title was fucked up becasue they wanted to send a message
