Never had any worthwhile service at a Microsoft store. Their staff were not trained very well and the focus was clearly on every Microsoft product other than Windows. How can you run a store called "Microsoft" and not have staff that understand how a computer works?

Not too surprising; there's less than 100 of them worldwide. I've been to the ones in SF and Vegas; I'm not really sure why anyone would actually buy something there vs. going online, anyway, so they always seemed like more advertisements for their products than actual "stores".

They were so transparently an attempt by Microsoft to clone the Apple store formula/aesthetic that you very well may have seen one and just mentally auto-corrected the logo. The one near me was across the parking lot from an Apple store (that was always mobbed while the MS store was empty), and the transparency of the strategy as well as it's obvious failure was such that I briefly felt pity for a multibillion dollar corporation.

Out of the 13 or 14 different states I’ve been to in the last 10 years and the countless number of major malls I have never heard of these . I didn’t even know Microsoft still had products outside of their shitty operating system and The failed Xbrick .

Last time I went to the malls around my area, I did see them pop up around the same area the apple store was located. In fact, outside one of them in the middle of the mall hallway was a kinect booth that had one of those dance games (I wanna say Just Dance but I could be wrong). It was always little kids playing them, never saw a teenager or adult on those things.

It was kinda dumb, they didn't have much to look at and it wasn't exactly comfortable given how it was just in the middle of everything. All I ever saw happening there were kids playing Minecraft on the display Xbone.
