It was suggested this thread was updated: one of the grown women who are convinced that Mr Cumberbatch's wife is blackmailing him has gone full insane over it and are saying that Sophie Hunter has been involved in a people trafficking ring. The source for this is apparently someone who knows Benedict, and for some reason have chosen to tell to this middle aged American blogger rather than the police . Anyway here is the post, including a classic colourful interlinked names graph, which no conspiracy can do without. This is from Gatorfisch, who is absolutely not jealous, in fact she doesn't even find Benedict attractive, but she wants to help him escape this abusive marriage. By blogging all day and slagging off his wife. But not jealous.

Fucking incredible. She's making all these long journeys while also being an acclaimed theatre director and actress. You'd think someone other than a mad middle-aged blogger would spot something was amiss.

Benedict Cumberbatch may be a good actor (haven't seen Sherlock, Dr. Strange or whatever, yet), but his - mostly female fans - are scary as fuck. Same goes for Tom Hiddleston. That's sad. Why waste your time focusing on an actor and his marriage and claim its fake? Its not going to change anything. Benedict isnt going to divorce his wife anytime soon, especially since he has two kids with her now. And even if he divorce his wife, what next?

Are they suggesting he should shag Martin Freeman, who has a wife and kids? Or is the next person Benedict marries just another person whose preventing Benedict from being who is truly is.

Their end game, though they'd never admit it openly, is that Benedict escapes his evil whore monster wife and marries them instead. If he doesn't marry them, then no one can have him.

You get the same crap with 12-year-old girls when their favourite boy band member gets a girlfriend. Of course you're going to get upset when your adolescent fantasies of marrying a non-threatening sex symbol are shattered, but most people grow out of that crap. When you're middle aged and still jealous about your celebrity crush, well, maybe it's time to become a nun.

I'm honestly expecting some of them to have a full mental breakdown over this, they are that over invested.
They can't bear to see him happy with his wife, to the extent that now some of them are saying that he has a stand in, pretend wife, to cover up the fact that his real wife (although they think she's fake as well) is in prison or rehab. I don't know what they think she's in prison for, it could be anything from the long list of things they've accused her of; blackmail, drug dealing, fraud, bribery, people trafficking etc. All this because someone posted some candid shots of them looking happy and relaxed, and as they all know, Benedict would never look pleased to be near his real wife.
I know this kind of thing also happens in other fandoms, following exactly the same pattern. I wish someone cleverer than me would do a proper study of it, because I do find it strangely fascinating.

This may have come up before, but someone did write a paper on a similar-but-different spergery, that of the Snapewives (middle-aged women, some married with children, who believe Snape is a real, free-standing entity from the Harry Potter series, JK Rowling has nothing to do with him anymore because she obviously doesn't respect him, and that through prayer and vague bdsm-ey rituals, shrines and wedding ceremonies etc., they can share him as a husband on the astral plane. Some of them got divorced because of their Snape delusions, I sure hope they lost custody too). It's a more polite write-up and can still be summarized as "look at these quaint lunatics". The author's discussing people with obvious mental illness, and in an institutional setting IRBs are cracking down on research like that more and more. The difference is of course that Snape isn't real and doesn't have to worry about these middle aged biddies tying him up in their basements (but it does make me worry for the author sometimes), but if you are Cumberbatch and his wife, and you have two small children, the thought that there's at least tens of these people and they're all on a spectrum, ranging from occasionally mildly crazy to full-time off the charts batshit, can't be comforting.

The alarming part for me is that these two nutbags found each other online, are not related, but look like they could be sisters. Physiognomy is a pseudoscience, but they have the same facial structure and the same kind of mental disorder. Maybe people who sperg over the same nonsense online start to resemble each other the way couples do after decades.
