Bernie Sanders set in motion a chain of events that could one day radically transform America, even if he won't live to see it. If his hopes and dreams lead his followers to one day elect a candidate that shares his vision, isn't that a form of winning?
Obviously Trump's (short-term and shortsighted) victory came as a shock to us all. He's a bigoted, racist, homophobe, intent on dragging us back into the dark ages of President Bush like when all of us were kids.
But it doesn't have to be that way. Bernie showed us that. And that vision could one day be the balm that soothes the wounds from Trump's monstrous actions. We could have an America where you could actually be a gay woman and live your life in something other than constant fear of catcalling by midwestern rednecks.
And in that sense: Bernie could STILL win.
