Beyond Good and Evil 2 is a multiplayer shooter with always online DRM - Ubisoft does it again!

While concrete details regarding Beyond Good and Evil 2 are still a bit in the air, we’ve learned the game has another kind of DRM – a mandatory internet connection.

A new Q&A was published on the game’s official website, where a fan asked if the game would require an internet connection of any kind – even if they were playing by themselves. The developer responded:

Beyond Good and Evil 2 is an online, multiplayer game with a rich co-op and seamless experience. As such, the game will only be playable with an internet connection in order to have seamless navigation, receive dynamic updates, and play with friends (which is certainly better when you’re playing as a Space Pirate!),” the developer noted.

“The choice to play co-op, however, remains yours to make, so playing BGE2 solo is absolutely possible if you’re into that lone Space Pirate kinda thing…”

Currently, there’s no release window or development platforms confirmed for Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Which is strange because in the newest trailer Peyj calls out to Jade.

Isn't he her stepfather though? There's an audio recording in the 1st game that makes it sound like her parents left her in his care at a very young age for her own protection.

EDIT:
The 2 trailer I saw was really beautiful.
Don't really know if I want to get this game though.

Me either, it looks like they're trying to break into the same market as Destiny and the BG&E label is just there to boost sales.

It's also been in development for like a decade; other games that made it out of development hell (Diablo 3, Last Guardian, Duke Nukem Forever, etc.) tend to be pretty bad due to changes in management/chasing the "hot" trends for that long/just trying to cram in more content to justify the hype and long development time, even if it doesn't fit with everything else.

Godfather. But yeah, the trailer has him talking to one of the people boarding the ship and he calls her 'Jade'.

Sooooo it's going to be the Division... just set in space... and (probably) catering to furries.

Would it be so terribly difficult to just make a proper sequel? Just a simple 15-20 single player adventure like the first Beyond Good and Evil? Probably would have less overhead and would actually, y'know, appease the fans of the game? No?

Okay, fuck you too, Ubisoft.

I look forward to seeing what kind of fucked up microtransactions they manage to contort into it. I'm betting on pay-to-win weapons like Far Cry 5 (where you could buy skinned versions of all the endgame guns, making an already easy game even more of a joke.)
