Experiment 101, the dev, was formed by the art director of Just Cause and... "Goodbye Kansas Game Invest"? They are now Amplifier Game Invest because the Kansas thing is just a baffling choice for an investment firm in Stockholm investing primarily in Swedish games. Anyway, THQ Nordic bought them as well.

9 minute trailer with gameplay from a couple of weeks back, missed it completely.

Looking at the trailer there's a big focus on battling big monsters in different settings, regular bosses or something more like Monster Hunter? Fight against humanoid enemies happens in what look a bit like Borderlands encounters and there's also some element of capturing outposts from rival faction leaders perhaps? (climbing towers to reveal the map: TBD)
What isn't shown off is the biomutant gimmick, the thing the whole game is built around. It was clearly inspired by the old RPG "Mutant" that was also about mutations and not-furry animals(as seen in Mutant: Year Zero).

In terms of graphics it looks last-gen:ish, not in a bad way it's just that some areas seems sparse even though they shouldn't and there's some geometry pop and other things, that's just nitpicking though and I think they're making their own engine from scratch.

So far I don't have high hopes about this one :(

Looks kinda amateurish, both graphics and gameplay.
The last time i saw this it also had a completely different tone.
The project was probably stuck in dev-hell until someone made a few drastic changes to just stop working on it and release it.
Those kinds of projects usually end up as generic ripoffs with some cool ideas from the scraped original concept.

As far as I know they're fairly small, this is also the studios first project and it is an ambitious one AND they are making their own engine. That's a lot of things to cut their teeth on at once.

If it's a full-priced game it will be compared to those, especially graphically, from the looks of things it seems more suitable for a 30 bucks price point. And a Switch release, graphically it looks like it would run on a Switch, they're even using Ye Olde fur-rendering that can be seen in Starfox Adventures on the Gamecube.
