I thread for those who enjoy/enjoyed Bionicles and a thread for those who are curious as to what a Bionicle is, other than a robot.
So, what is a Bionicle according wikipedia a Bionicle is:
"Bionicle (stylized as BIONICLE) is a line of construction toys created by the Lego Group marketed primarily for 5-to-16-year-olds. Originally a sub-theme of Lego’s Technic series, the line was launched in 2000 in Europe and Australia and 2001 in North America. Over the following decade, it became one of the Lego Group's biggest-selling properties and helped play a part in saving the company from its financial crisis of the late 1990s."
According to me and my memory a Bionicle is:
A construct-able robot action figure. I'm fairly certain the goal was to make Lego cool to older children and it did succeed if all the bigger kids playing with Bionicles at recces in 2001-2004 said anything. The Bionicles had a rich lore with 4 direct to dvd movies expanding on the lore (they sucked, but they were cool at the time, at least the first one anyway. Seeing your favorite toys come to life and do stuff was neat!) a range of comics, some weird early flash games on their website expanding on lore.
The story up to the point I stopped following it, as according to my memory and the Bionicle wiki is as follows:

Anyway, questions? Do you guys remember Bionicles? Did you guys have any Bionicles? I'm gonna borrow back some of my Bionicles from my friend do like a kiwi showcase of them. I'm also searching for the Bioncle reference material I had for any curious Kiwis

Giant robot makes an island and he names it after himself, the island is Mata Nui, an evil robot called Makuta put the giant robot to sleep somehow and makes the local robot animals (the Rahi) attack the tiny robots. A tiny robot does a thing and summons the big robots. The big robots pop out of the canisters they are sold in at the toy store (I think this was neat because when you open your toy, you're not just getting a toy, you're summoning a hero or villain) There are 6 big hero robots to match each flavor of little robot (fire, water, air, earth, stone, ice) they go around looking for magical masks (masks are a big thing in Bionicle) if they collect 6 they get a "Golden Kanohi" which somehow lets them go fight the evil robot. They kill him after forming Voltron (this is not a joke) but then after the big robots win a bunch of Chicken Peckers (Bohrok) pop out and start wrecking everything. They have like, mask brains which they can shoot at other robots and they attach to their face and make them evil. The big robots have to collect mask brains by beating one of each of the 8 different kinds of Bohrok, then they go back to where they fought the evil robot in 2001 and they fight out that whatever these things are
Yeah, whatever those things may be, are controlling the Bohrok they kill them and the tiny robots re-purpose the Bohrok to make them beasts of labor to help rebuild. Then the big robots are sucked into tubes for some reason and emerge as more powerful robots. They start fighting each other and then they get pissed and go their separate ways. ONE YEAR LATER a bunch of more powerful Bohrok AKA Bohrok-Kal pop out and start trying to resurrect their boss so that there can be swarms of regular Bohrok again. They steal magical tablets that give each big robot some of their power so they can't fight the Bohrok-Kal alone so they team up, some stuff happens and they win and take back the elemental tablets and hide them and then they just kind of do nothing for a while until the next inevitable enemy pops up. Only weeks pass and two tiny robots find a magical mask. They play some ball hockey (robots really dig ball hockey) and the mask chooses one of the tiny robots to become the next big robot to kill the evil robot for good because oh yeah he's back did we mention that well he is. So two tiny robots set out to find the next big robot, Makuta the evil robot finds out and sends out the coolest toys the line had up to this point imo the Rahkshi
Holy shit these guys are so cool they were my favorites. So the Rahkshi are suits of armor piloted by evil bugs (seen at the red Rahkshi's feet) The big robots fight the Rahkshi some stuff happens the tiny robots ride around on a rock em sock em crab, the Rankshi pillage a couple villages but then the Rankshi find the tiny robots and kills one of them (the first official main character death if I recall not including the baddies) the remaining tiny robot somehow figures out he is the next big robot from watching his buddy die because he's kind of a sick fucker. He puts on the magical mask and poof grows several feet taller and gets buff. I'm not 100% what happens next, but I do know that the new big robot and the evil robot play some ball hockey and then the big robot falls into a pit and dissolves like the Terminator. Yeah that's where I stopped giving a shit.
