Bioware games -

I've noticed a great deal of people on the forums have opinions related to Bioware games, but they're mostly spread across various threads and are usually about specific topics.

Since we don't already have a Mass Effect or Dragon Age thread I wanna make one related to all Bioware games. So, what Bioware games do you like/dislike?

I love Mass Effect a lot and am probably one of the only people who wasn't greatly offended by the end of 3. I got so good at multiplayer that I could run platinum games with the Drell Vanguard (if any of you are unaware of the multiplayer, that's some serious bragging rights).

I loved Dragon Age, haven't played 2, was hoping to before Inquisition came around.

KOTOR was always great fun

Probably one of my favorite companies in game development when all is said and done

I got so good at multiplayer that I could run platinum games with the Drell Vanguard.

It takes a lot of flipping, good resource management (those cluster grenades are fucking brutal against anything), and balls of steel because you'll be hitting them with a grenade and flying straight into their face for a massive biotic explosion.

Almost every game I own is Bioware. Still have Jade Empire. Need to jump on it again, same with KOTOR. Have a good old fashioned classic RPG bender. This after finishing Mass Effect.

Dragon Age: Origins and the Mass Effect trilogy are some of the funnest games I've played. I play through DA every six months or so, and I've played through the ME trilogy three or four times by now. Dragon Age II is fucking terrible, and I can't wait for Inquisition.

Let's see... My first Bioware game was KOTOR. I liked it, but it wasn't until I played the first Mass Effect that I fell in love with the company. Dragon Age: Origins was a really fun game for me, and I loved playing around with character interactions and the multiple endings. By the time I'd finished Mass Effect 2, I had Bioware as a "trusted" company (Garrus as a love interest? Yes please Bioware)).

So, of course when Dragon Age 2 came along I bought it blindly. Dragon Agerigns has been a great fantasy game, surely Dragon Age 2 would be the same. Right? Right?

Well. I could go on a "Null vs. Diablo 3" level tirade against that game. Don't get me wrong, I understand the people that say that the game isn't bad and the hatred is exagerated. But, I tried replaying it again after some years, and the issues that made me dislike it the first time are still there.

As for Mass Effect 3...I liked 90% of that game. Tuchanka and the Geth/Quarian Conflict are my favorite parts of that game. I disliked the ending not because of the Starchild and the "Pick your color" ending, but because when compared to the rest of the game, it felt incredibly rushed. Your two companions dissapeared the moment you did the last run, with no explanation to what happened to them or why Shepard was alone.

The Normandy crash ending also came out very "wtf", initially it looked like they had gotten stranded on a planet while the rest of the Galaxy went to hell. I know they tried going for an "Adam and Eve feeling with Joker and EDI, but in my opinion, it didn't work at all. It was a very strange way to end it all... The "patched up" ending that Bioware released afterwards adressed a lot of these issues, giving explanations to the fates of the two companion characters and clarifying the Normandy's situation. It's just a shame they had to patch up the ending to the trilogy n the first place, I can't believe nobody saw these problems before the final product was released.

Either way, the blind trust is gone, now I don't think I'll buy Bioware games on launch. I'll touch Dragon Age: Inquisition once a lot of user reviews are out (and they sound possitive), I remember that a lot of sites gave Dragon Age 2 a lot of "10/10, 5/5, would bang" when it came out. I'm not wasting another $60 on an unsatisfying product.

Have to agree with Venusaur on the ME3 ending. What really pisses me off is you're screwed on 3 without DLC or monumental asset gathering. Anyone else read about the guy who brought it up with the FTC?

Well there was a case to be made about false advertising considering Casey Hudson said something directly opposite of what actually happens ingame

This matches my experiences and opinions down to the letter. Except the Garrus part he isn't my lover he is my right hand... wait that came out wrong. I liked the way Bioware made games that had shit carry on into the sequels even the little things that you did could show up in the sequel and I really liked that.
I liked the final level of ME 2 where you actually assign your team to do stuff and the only way people survive is to know what they do, it wasn't hard but I preferred it to the ME 3 pick your teammates while everyone else sits it out at the base. I did two playthroughs of ME3 one where I collected all the war assets and one where I collected as little as possible and actively tried to ruin my score and didn't notice anything different. I need to play the extended ending and see what's different.
Mass Effect 3 had moments that made me laugh and it made me tear up at times, that to me is a good game. I can't wait to see what Bioware has in store for a new ME not starring Shepard.
