I randomly remembered something from when I was a kid and it's driving me nuts because I can't remember exactly what it was and it's really weird.

It was something like a travel brochure or a magazine, this was back in the 1990s, around 1996, 1997 or 1998, I seem to remember there was a photo of that giant Gulliver statue in Japan, but the weird thing is I remember a logo for something that featured a headhunter looking guy in an African tribal mask wielding a... machete.

It was for a hotel or show or museum or something and I want to say the machete was bloody, although I could be wrong, but I know this was for real because my uncle remarked on it.

Does anyone have any idea what the hell that would have been?

I guess this can also be a thread for any bizarre things we remember, but have no idea what they actually were.

OP put the drugs down

No, this was for real, trust me.

I think it was something documenting weird places around the world, hence the Gulliver statue, it was probably for some kind of Ripley's Believe It Or Not type museum or something.

Could it have been National Geographic? My guess is that its probably a museum or some other form of presentation, like the Smithsonian or as you said, Ripley's believe it or not.

There are dedicated forums on the internet for enthusiasts into magazines. Maybe you could ask someone on there?

I've typically saved a lot of the menus, brochures, and maps over the years but that doesn't really sound like anything I recognize. Where would one have seen this brochure? Typically, the hotels in an area will have a small case of brochures and stuff for areas within a 200 mile radius (nothing beyond a days' drive).

Was the statue of Gulliver the one from Gulliver's Kingdom, the abandoned park near Aokigahara? I have an idea...

E- The park Gulliver's Kingdom came into being in 1997, and it only lasted til 2002, or so, because of its unpopularity. I'm currently searching for other theme parks that were active in that time period that had a riverboat ride. (Like Disneyland, or Nara Dreamland. The local safari parks seem to be a dead end.) If anyone would look for entertainment venues around Fuji-san, it might help solve this mystery.

I saw it at my house, no I don't know how it arrived there.

I'm pretty sure it was Gulliver's Kingdom, if you say it opened in 1997 that seems about right timeline wise, the question is why would I, an American, have a brochure about this in the first place? Unless it was something showcasing places all over the world as it may have been.
