If I were to take the SJWs on at their own game, I'd lay into them for demanding this film be treated as flawless while they're happy to ignore films not made for a largely white audience by a largely white studio owned by a largely white company. I would also point out that for a movie about black people, it doesn't deal with the real issues faced by POCs, as it revolves around a superhero who is also royalty in a non-existent sci-fi utopia untouched by colonialism or ethnic strife. I would accuse the SJWs in question of only being interested in race politics when they can relate it to their own comfortable middle-class existences. That they want to be woke, but don't want the guilt that comes with it.

I mean, I don't intend to do that, I'm just saying that someone could point all that out.

Wait, does anyone have Cole Smithey's email?

They'd just say you're white and therefore none of your criticisms are of any consequence.

So outside of the autism, how is the movie really? Standard, banal but decent entertainment for two hours of capeshit?
Tl;DC It was good capeshit, exceeded my expectations. Cool set pieces, costumes, and vibranium based tech. The humor was kept in check and did not run wild like some other movies.
At least the Wakandan expat SJW became the main villain instead of white guy Klaw. I'm glad they did not go all out and show BLM Wakandan outcast groups go nuts on whiety with the delivered weapons. Also Bucky gets a post credit scene instead of a plot where Killmonger discovers that he has a white guy he can control and orgasm over it.
There is a post credits scene that contains the "bridges not borders" cliche. Only makes sense in the MCU because Earth is going to have to deal with that purple alien getting off his space toilet soon.

I actually just got out of a showing myself. I love that it’s going right over their heads that the antagonist is an out-and-out black nationalist and that Wakanda is everything they condemn about the alt-right inverted.

I got out of a showing not too long ago. It was enjoyable with a lot of intense moments; kind of like The Lion King meets James Bond. I was in love with the soundtrack and it had some good jokes (with the exception of an extremely forced "WHAT ARE THOOOOOOSE?!" meme).

Can confirm @dunbrine47's impressions; I was expecting the usual "whitey bad!" tripe until the twist where the expat and BP's father betrayed his uncle and killed him. Then again, I knew that he would be a big part of the story during the heist at the museum.

While I wasn't sure where to stick this at, I just noticed this item and couldn't pass it up, it's just so classic!
https://rare.us/rare-humor/two-kids-dressed-as-a-tall-man-to-get-into-black-panther-is-caught-on-video/

Two kids decided they wanted to go to the new Marvel superhero film “Black Panther,” but they didn’t want to pay for two movie tickets, so they tried to dupe the movie theater’s manager.

The duo went to the theater disguised as one “tall man” under a trench coat, but unsurprisingly, their plan didn’t work. However, despite their unsuccessful attempt to save on movie tickets, they have gone viral on Twitter thanks to their hilarious antics.

A Twitter user going by the name of Pillsbury tweeted a video of the charade, captioning it, “We tried getting the two for one special at black panther. The manager was not having it.”

Overall, it was a solid movie. Was it perfect? No, of course not. It was a fun, well-made MCU film. It's definitely disappointing, though, that so many people don't want to let it stand on its own (and will completely ignore lots of the politically-tinged messages that likely stand in contrast to their own worldview) because of the skin color of the people behind it.

I did see an article where it was criticized for having no LGBT representation, though. :story:

"If you bring refugees here [to Wakanda from shitty countries], they bring their problems with them." I can't imagine we'll see the woke crew criticizing that, though.

I just saw it and will agree it's a good movie, but nowhere near the masterpiece people think it is. One thing I appreciated is because we're dealing with an isolationist kingdom as the setting there aren't any obnoxious references to other Marvel movies. The only reference to other MCU characters I could see was a line referencing Bucky being taken to Wakanda, which didn't even name him.

and of course they show him after the credits, but that's fair enough since he actually had a reason to be brought up

It was a good movie IMO. Pretty much on par with most of the other films in the MCU.

I'm actually looking forward to Infinity War though.
