Bumping this again like a year and a half later to point out that BB2 came out months ago, and currently has a deal going whereby if you buy now, the remainder (Undead, Khemri, and Nurgle) of the current batch of upcoming teams will be given to you for free. The previous DLC teams (Wood Elves, Lizardmen, and Norse) are missed out on unfortunately.

Don't mind the reviews, as it's caused by two groups, fans of the now DOA first game who are upset they still don't have all the races the first game did (Which I am in, but I'm not gonna hold that opinion to new players), and new players who think the dice are rigged because they are mongolids.

If you want an example of gameplay, here's the finals match of the World Cup, which was their first official tournament and had a cash prize of a few thousand IIRC. The commentators do a fairly good job of explaining things for new players.

So, in a league I run over at FUMBBL, I play a goblin team. Goblins are of course, one of the absolute worst teams in the entire game, which is why I chose it, partially to prevent conflict of interest if something that could help me came up, and aprtly because that way I can blame bad games on "lol it wasnt my fault, it's goblins". But, the one thing that sets the goblins apart from the other 3 joke teams (Ogres, Halflings, and arguably Vampires) is that the goblins have a bunch of illegal weapons.

In addition to your 2 trolls, goblin on a pogo stick, and the regular useless goblins, a goblin team also gets a chainsaw, a bomb chucker, and a ball and chain goblin who moves semi randomly but has enermous strength. Because of this goblin games tend to involve massive casulties on both sides. I've had matches where my bomber has murdered my own players via a missed throw, killed players on the ground by fouling them with a saw, and so on.

But my most recent game is bloody even by those standards. A complete slaughter of both teams. I'll just post the endstate of it.

11 players injured, 4 banned from the rest of the game (granted the illegal guys get banned after a drive ends). I may have lost by the score, but I think I won by the carnage. None of my guys are permanently hurt, but two of his are.

Guess what. Blood Bowl is back bitches! As in the actual tabletop game. These images were leaked from a reviewer copy of the board game sent out. Supposedly it's either the Cyanide version of the CRP ruleset or a slight variation on them. This is kicking off the return of many of the GW specalist games.

Contents as usual include a human and orc team, the dice needed, board, cards, and so on.

Holy shit. I thought the table top was dead and buried. This might actually bring me out out tabletop retirement.

I picked up a practically-new copy of the 3rd Editon board game at a yard sale awhile back. Haven't had the time to really try and play it, but I might just end up flipping it on BGG or something.

The actual materials in 3rd edition are what's needed IIRC, as the Living Rule Book was a series of 6 rule adaptions of 4th edition that were tweaked as more and more playtesting happened, but the actual change to a unique game instead of a bastardized warhammer system took place in 3rd. As long as you grab the latest rules. you should be good to go.

In addition, the PC version, Blood Bowl 2, is now only $15.30 on the Humble Sale, if anyone was looking for a reason to get it. And as mentioned, it's a 1:1 conversion of the boardgame, although one could argue it's Living Rule Book 7 with the changes they made, being a change to how money affects team value, and home team stadium enhancements were added that affect both teams equally, the Brettonians were added as a race, and the human ogre dropped 10tv. And the freeware java FUMBBL always exists as well.

So, latest news is Legendary Edition is coming out sometime in summer 2017. Full price rerelease of the game with 8 more races (bringing the total to 24), and cross compatibility with the original game, which will also get the QOL improvements. Current owners are expected to be able to get it for like 20 Europe bucks, so compared to the standard price for teams ($7) all in all a good deal. With it almost all the races except 1 or 2 will be in the game. But if you were thinking of buying now hold off and wait for summer.

Finally got my hands on the box set to play with my gf, and it came with some voucher codes. I took the one for the cosmetic goodies in the digital game, but I have no need of the 50% off coupon for the digital version.

So here it is, please don't claim it unless you intend to use it, and if you do make sure to post you grabbed it. Not sure if it stacks with the current 60% off sale on Steam. But the code is a steam one, and again is a voucher for 50% off the PC version.

For those wondering, the models are fairly high quality, and with the exception of a few of the ork ones don't even need modeling glue to keep together. Not sure what I want to paint them as yet as far as color schemes, but here's a shitty cellphone photo of them I took.

Legendary Edition for BB2 is out now. All 24 races for $45. Game now has every race in the rulebooks except Chaos Pact (which tends to be ignored by GW), and even the very lore-unfirendly Slann are in now, repackaged as a Kislev circus troupe.

http://store.steampowered.com/sub/192166/

So that brings the races up to:

  • Imperial
  • Brettonia
  • Kislev
  • Amazon
  • Dwarf
  • Chaos Dwarf
  • Chaos (Chaos Warriors and Beastmen lackeys)
  • Nurgle (Chaos but slower and assholes)
  • Norse
  • Elven Union (Non affiliated Elves)
  • High Elf
  • Dark Elf
  • Wood Elf
  • Skaven
  • Orcs
  • Lizardmen
  • Undead
  • Necromantic
  • Khemri
  • Vampire Counts
  • Goblins
  • Halflings
  • Ogres
Meaning if you have any interest in WHFB, your favorite race is represented now more than likely.

And of course, the greatest player ever is here now. The Looney!

Yes that's a chainsaw. It's only slightly illegal.
