Mod Edit: Current Dahvie/BOTDF thread is here
Who Wants to Remember Dahvie Vanity's Multiple Sex-Assault Accusations?
The thing about Dylan Farrow's open letter accusing her father, Woody Allen, of sexual abuse is: There was not much really new about it. It was new that Dylan Farrow herself was signing her name to the accusations, but Vanity Fair had covered the case, in grim detail, more than two decades ago.
So the current crisis over how people are supposed to feel about Woody Allen is on some level odd. Woody Allen's status as an accused child molester has been a matter of public record since before Manhattan Murder Mystery came out. Anyone who didn't think about it before now had chosen not to think about it.
Not thinking about it is a popular and powerful choice. Which brings up another beloved American entertainer, Dahvie Vanity. Who doesn't love Dahvie Vanity? I grew up spitting off the overpass to hit emo-kids and scene-tards who were often big fans of his, which is a cliché, but Dahvie Vanity is the creator of some of our most warming and affirming clichés. He is an exceptional individual, a supreme gentleman, if you will.
He's also someone who has been accused by multiple underage girls of sexually assaulting them. Here is one of his accusers, describing an incident:
Then you have the famous Jessi Slaughter story:
Not to mention the entire archive of accusations that anyone can easily find on the Internet dating all the way back to 2009. Surely you'd figure once this scandal hits the mainstream media something would be done to stop this man?
To reiterate: This was in Gawker, shown all over the Internet in July 2010. Dahvie, real name Jesus David Torres, has a record which dates back to at least 2009, when he was arrested for the alleged statutory rape of a 15 year old. This coverage was more recent and the allegations more damning that those in the case of Woody Allen.
And? Basically nobody wanted to live in a world where people on image boards were completely in the right about something. No one has really done all that much anywhere to stop this horrible, horrible man from having sex with more underage girls. His shows are still all ages shows, and the few times this has been brought up in the mainstream media, people have given no credence to the allegations.
Conceptually, it was the sensible way to deal with it. No one was talking about it anymore. The whole thing had been, and it remained, something walled off from our collective understanding of the way the Internet should work.
With shocking speed, it was effectively forgotten. When the subject came up today on the "What's the worst song you've ever heard?" thread of this board, I myself had already forgotten about the sexual assault allegations against Jesus David Torres. In 2013, BOTDF received a three star review for their album Bad Blood on Allmusic. In 2014, the TruthAboutDahvie Tumblr posted its last update. It's likely very dispiriting to keep covering a horrible criminal who's still no closer to prosecution after all the allegations you've compiled for months on end.
Well fuck that. I'm not giving up. If society can put away Nick Bate, it can put away Dahvie Vanity.

Anonymous said:A while back I took my cousin to see botdf (i'm personally not a fan but she was obsessed) After the show I waited around the back of the venue with her so she could get some stuff signed, She was 15 at the time and pulled her close to him and grabbed all over her body and asked her if he could kiss her and kept calling her ''his wife'' I was absolutely fucking disgusted and forced her into leaving and he later called me a ''dumb bitch''
Then you have the famous Jessi Slaughter story:
TheTruthAboutDahvie said:Since this is pretty much internet common knowledge, I’ll be relatively brief. Jessi Slaughter was an 11 year old fan who claimed that Dahvie Vanity had slept with her and received a huge backlash from both BOTDF fans and 4chan. This entire scandal is googleable, but here is where it gets really ridiculous. Instead of acting like the adults that they are and allow the accusation to play out as it would, BOTDF took this as an opportunity to bully the 11 year old, making a youtube video mocking one of her videos, and writing a song calling her out… yes this was a dude in his mid-20s attacking an 11 year old girl… again, great role model. And, as per usual, he did absolutely nothing to encourage his fans to stop attacking her. He is so anti-bullying that he completely ignores the dog piling of teens by his fans on his behalf.

Adrian Chen said:Last night, the users of 4Chan.org's notorious /b/ message board declared war on the lead singer of an obscure electro-pop band. More than 12 hours later, they're still waging it. This is how the Internet's worst trolls work.
This week, 4Chan's /b/ board launched an Internet gang-up on an 11-year-old girl, Jessi Slaughter, who had been the target of dubious Internet rumors about an underage sex scandal. They posted her real name, phone number, address and social networking information and spearheaded a campaign of Internet and real-life harassment. They made her cry. /b/'s denizens have turned their ire now on 25 year-old Dahvie Vanity, the other half of that very likely made-up scandal. Vanity is the lead singer of the terrible electro-pop MySpace band Blood on the Dance Floor (Sample lyric:"I'll fuck you in the face/and leave a nice taste.") Now, /b/ has sworn to destroy him.
