I'm new to these forums, so if this post is poorly formatted or structured, roast as desired.
When one thinks of someone who can't take criticism, the first things that come to mind are many of the lolcows on this forum. Many of them will often try to solve their problems using outrageous methods, most of which end up getting them in more trouble than if they simply didn't do anything.
However, the person we're going to be talking about today has taken less and less risks ever since I first encountered him. He says "let your passion burn bright," yet he keeps dousing the flames whenever adversity arrives. He is unwilling to admit his faults, or address any drama that's going on, to the point where if you ask him about it, he either says it had nothing to do with what someone did, or he just outright blocks you. Residing on DeviantArt, he has built a wall to isolate himself from any danger, letting in only the very few who actually follow him and admire his artwork. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you:

On the surface, this doesn't seem very interesting. He's just some guy who makes half-decent art on a shitty website. The most interesting content he has is maybe The Three Amigos, and even then, it isn't exactly stellar by any means.
What if I told you that this guy used to have a YouTube channel? Not only that, one with a tightly knit cult following? What if I told you that, on YouTube, his name used to be mrpr4, and he also went by moviemaker2000?
You probably wouldn't believe me. That's because his YouTube Channel no longer has any content on it whatsoever. Why, you may ask? Well, stick around and find out.
It's hard to pinpoint exactly when he first appeared on DeviantArt, but I believe he joined some time in 2017. We do know he joined YouTube on June 27th, 2007, 10 years prior. There were videos on his channel from as early as 2009 from what I remember. The point is, mrpr4 had been around a long time, longer than many of us have.
For all of the channel's life, he was a variety content creator, meaning he made a large variety of videos, ranging from Garry's Mod Machinimas, to Let's Plays, to Speed Colorings, e.t.c. By far and away the most famous of his videos was a Garry's Mod Machinima known as I Dream Of Shantae.
He had began uploading episodes of I Dream Of Shantae at around 2017. Three episodes in total were created, with several shorts to supplement them, and they garnered views in the tens of thousands, with quite a few loyal fans of his work. They were loosely based on the sitcom I Dream Of Jeannie, and feature characters from several different franchises. Think My Little Dashie meets Cool Cat Saves The Kids.
Notice how in the above image, Shantae is hugging what looks to be Gordon Freeman, in the way she would if this were a shitty romance fanfiction. In reality however, this character, named "Mark Freeman,"
is her adoptive father, kind of like the plot of My Little Dashie, only much less - and I use this term loosely - emotional. I mean, hell, in Episode 2, he is literally shown taking in Fluttershy, a character from MLP, in the very same manner as that fanfiction. The amount of originality and subtlety in this is truly astonishing.
While the slapstick comedy provided a few chuckles for some, others could not get past the fact that mrpr4 decided to voice Shantae, a female character, himself. I would describe it as the tone you put on when mocking Karen, who won't stop asking for the manager. The awkward pacing also didn't help, as after every line of dialogue, there is at least 3 or 4 seconds of nothingness.
The first two episodes were nothing but exposition. In the first episode, entitled "Half Genie Contract," Shantae talks about all the perks that come with a half genie. Though, if you ask me, having a half genie seems way better than having a full genie, as you get infinite wishes instead of the usual three. Infinite wishes.
Does Mark take advantage of that to solve his problems? No, of course not! It's not like there are really any rules preventing him from abusing this power, outside of the usual genie rules, so what's the fucking point?
The second episode, "Getting to Know Each Other," isn't any better. It's nearly three times the length of the first episode, making the watching process even worse. All that happens is that Mark and Shantae tell each other about their living situation, with several flashbacks. That is all that happens for 18 goddamn minutes. It's not entertaining, or clever, or funny, it's just boring. Boring, boring, boring.
The third episode, "Genie Hiccups," is the only one out of all three episodes to have a proper beginning, middle, and end. The problem? It's nearly 30 minutes long.
You also might notice this one doesn't have a link. Well that's because I don't have this episode in it's original form. However, an autistic guy can be found reacting to the episode here.
So what could they possibly be doing for 30 minutes? Well, Shantae gets the hiccups, only every time she hiccups, something strange happens. She and Mark try to find a way to cure the hiccups before deciding to go to the doctor, where a non-psychotic TF2 Medic (the fuck?) cures them with a deus-ex-machina potion. If we're going the deus-ex-machina route, why not just wish the hiccups away? Again, infinite wishes. It works for Fairly Oddparents because of "Da Rules," which limits what you can and can't wish for immensely, allowing conflict to occur without us constantly thinking, "just wish it away!" The same cannot be said for I Dream Of Shantae.
Well, you get the idea. I Dream Of Shantae, although not exactly a good machinima, still had it's fans, and all was well.
Until I came in.
That's right, in August of 2018, I made a review of the first episode of I Dream Of Shantae. Admittedly, I'm not very fond of how I made the video. It really had no sense of structure, I got a few things wrong, and more time was spent on gags than actually reviewing the machinima. Sound familiar? At least it wasn't nearly as cringy or as long, but that isn't saying much.
See, unlike mrpr4, I'm willing to admit the faults in my creations, and when I receive actual criticism, sure, I feel demoralized at first, everybody does, but I don't delete all of my videos and make a pathetic attempt to be "edgy", leaving all the fans I've accumulated in the dark and losing a large majority of them.
What a fuckin' idiot. I even made a video about it. I sound like shit, though.
Now that I Dream Of Shantae, and mrpr4 for that matter, were thrust into obscurity, I decided to take it upon myself to create The Secret Of Risky Boots, an ongoing Garry's Mod Machinima starring Risky Boots, the main antagonist of the Shantae series of video games, Frederick "Hugh" Mungus, the opposite of Mark Freeman, and Captain Meta Knight, because... Meta Knight. (Notice the disproportionate amount of views the Kirby stuff gets compared to my other videos.)
But, right in the middle of making the first episode, mrpr4 came back, as BlueStarKnight. (Quick conspiracy theory, did he change his name to somehow act as the opposite of DeltaDragonoid225, my YouTube Channel? Knight slays the Dragon, perhaps? Probably not, his DeviantArt profile has always been named as such.)
He clarified a few things, notably that what he did had nothing to do with my review. At the time, I believed it, but due to what happens afterwards, now I'm not so sure. Another thing of note was that he said he was going to reboot I Dream Of Shantae, since he didn't like how it was. Well, how was the new and improved I Dream Of Shantae?
Well, in "A Typical Weekend Morning," Shantae wakes Mark up in a playful manner before discussing the dreams they had last night. Mark then says they're going to the mall, and... that's it.
A bit disappointing so far, nothing really happened. Right when they say they're going to do something that might involve an actual plot, it just ends. Not to mention, the slapstick comedy that gave the original three episodes the little charm that they had is completely absent here. On the flipside, Shantae has a higher quality model this time. That's good, right? Well, this was made right before the channel reboot, perhaps he was just trying something new.
Unfortunately, "Whatever the hell the next episode is called" isn't much better. BlueStarKnight couldn't be bothered to make up his mind on the title of this video, so we're just gonna call it Father/Daughter Bonding. Anyway, Mark and Shantae sit on the porch and talk about stuff. That's it.
Let me stress: there's nothing wrong with a simplistic plot if you can make it entertaining. For example, the very first episode of Red V.S. Blue consists mostly of two people having a conversation. It works because the conversations are actually funny and interesting. The conversations in I Dream Of Shantae are neither of those. They're just boring. Really fucking boring.
Two videos in and already I can say, this is not remotely what I would call better. Sure, they're more refined, and shorter, but those are the only good things I can say about the new I Dream Of Shantae. The pacing is still awkward, Shantae's voice is still bad, and nothing interesting is happening. What's next?
"Half Genie Insomniac." It, like Genie Hiccups, has a beginning, middle, and end. Thankfully, it only clocks in at six minutes, which is considerably longer than the other two episodes, which were only about two minutes, but six minutes is a lot more bearable than 30. Holy shit.
Shantae can't sleep, so she asks Mark to do a few things with her before she finally goes to sleep. Then Mark can't sleep, and the episode ends. Notice how that story took a bit longer to describe than the other two videos. This at least feels like a complete story, though I feel as though more could've been added to spice it up. As is, it's like a plain biscuit. It tastes alright, but something's missing.
Only one out of the new videos is one I would actually consider an improvement over the original episodes. The first one was even made before the reboot, so it really only counts because BlueStarKnight said so.
While all of this was happening, I worked on The Secret of Risky Boots. Admittedly, it has it's fair share of flaws, too. If I Dream Of Shantae spends too much time sitting around doing nothing, The Secret Of Risky Boots is like that one kid who can't seem to sit still. The plot isn't really explained all too well, and the animation, at least up until Episode 6, was without question inferior to I Dream Of Shantae, or at least it was much rougher around the edges. At least I try to make it interesting, though how well that works out is your own opinion.
Also, I was continually criticizing BlueStarKnight's work in the comments section of his videos. This was actually wrong of me, as doing so after the situation already ended was just being petty, and I even apologized for it, among a few other things. (Side note, in that video, I said I'd make a review of The Three Amigos, and I still have yet to do it. If you guys want me to make one, I will.)
Speaking of which, he eventually switched it up by creating The Three Amigos. This is a side series to I Dream Of Shantae, and it stars Rottytops, Sonic, and Sora. Rotty and Sora are in a sorta-kinda relationship, while Sonic is a lonely virgin with rage. This series used to be on YouTube, however due to the COPPA incident, BlueStarKnight decided it would be best if he simply moved all his work to DeviantArt, and after obtaining Core Membership, which allows one to upload videos to DeviantArt, there was no going back.
The Three Amigos features no voice acting whatsoever, instead, dialogue is delivered via subtitles, as though it's a video game cutscene. In fact, that's what this whole series feels like. Video game cutscenes, and not the good kind like in Metal Gear Solid, where they're entertaining, make you think and are integral not just to the plot, but also to the gameplay, but the kind that you just want to skip so you can play the game. The Three Amigos is what happens when there is no fun game to play, rather it's just long, tedious cutscenes.
Also, is it just me, or is the animation actually kind of worse? All the characters move like animatronics. No seriously, put robot sfx to it and it'll fit way too well. This issue was not present in I Dream Of Shantae, so what happened?
Three videos in this series have been released so far, and "Rottytops' Gumbo" is among them. Rottytops makes gumbo, but feels as though something's missing, something to really make it taste good and unique.
Sora comes over and adds sauce to make it better, and Rotty kisses Sora on the cheek. All the while, Sonic is watching something similar to Jojo's Bizarre Adventure.
At least Rotty has a character flaw: She's often very pushy, as she shoves a spoonful of gumbo down the boys' throats. Sonic nearly chokes to death and calls her out for it, while Sora just takes it like a man and figures out what to put in the gumbo.
But again, this isn't presented very well, and it just ends up boring. The stock music, the clunky animation, nothing too interesting happening, it's super boring.
Same pretty much goes for "Holly Jolly Holiday." The trio meet somewhere, talk about a few things, they leave, and then it's over.
You know how I keep complaining about how bland these videos are, and that a little spice could be added? I actually dubbed this particular video, and I gotta say, having voice acting makes this a lot more interesting. (Even if I'm not exactly proud of Sonic's voice here.) Yes, I criticized the voice acting in I Dream Of Shantae, but that was mostly down to poor execution and delivery, something that can always be improved upon.
At least "Working Hard" has something to talk about. Sora and Sonic work on a super high-tech futuristic device that can charge your phone, and they plan on making a portable version. You know, a battery bank? Something that exists in real life? Whether or not that's the entire joke is beyond me. Inventing an unnecessarily complicated device to do a minor task sounds funny on paper, but the pacing is too clunky to really make whatever humor is there work. Also, the battery bank is not mentioned at all, which makes me question if it's supposed to be a joke even further.
That's pretty much where BlueStarKnight is now. Making content on his DeviantArt channel. He's blocked me every time I try to talk to him, to try and resolve the grudge me and him have had since 2018. He sits on his soapbox and talk about how we shouldn't criticize each other without considering what goes through their mind when creating something. If you want BlueStarKnight in a nutshell, this will tell you all about him.
Now we get to why I made this forum post in the first place. While using a sockpuppet account, because he prematurely blocked me on DeviantArt, I told him about a casting call for the upcoming fan project "Shantae: The Fan Film." He said he wasn't interested, and I "got curious." I know the answer, he knows the answer, I just wanted to see if he was willing to talk about it. Judging by the following images, obviously not.
Was I being a bit pushy? Yes. Did I start it? Yes. Did I escalate the situation? No, as you can see, I talked calmly, but also firmly. Meanwhile, BlueStarKnight was simply unwilling to cooperate, and after that last message I sent, he blocked the sockpuppet.
I could make another sockpuppet, but why bother? I'll never get the answers I want by just doing that. The reason I waited until now to make this post was because I had some sliver of respect for the guy, since, well, he has a few fans who follow his work. However, through this conversation, along with everything else up to this point, I have lost any and all respect I may have once had for him. I simply cannot respect someone who is unwilling to take criticism, improve his work or even do something as simple as answer a question.
I'm well aware that questions about tough subject matters are bound to give someone PTSD, and as such, it's rude to ask said questions. However, this does not count as a hard question. Unless my review of I Dream Of Shantae was really that insulting, (Which I kinda get because of how Shantae acted, but that was part of the joke, she's an asshole in the review,) he should have no reason not to simply answer the question and move on. It would've ended things way smoother and easier.
But I want to hear your thoughts. Is BlueStarKnight as much of an autistic fuckwit as I say he is? Or am I actually worse? More importantly, I Dream Of Shantae, or The Secret Of Risky Boots?
Well, I know one thing, this was ridiculous. You guys might get a kick out of it, for better or for worse.
When one thinks of someone who can't take criticism, the first things that come to mind are many of the lolcows on this forum. Many of them will often try to solve their problems using outrageous methods, most of which end up getting them in more trouble than if they simply didn't do anything.
