4 years ago today, Robert Franklin Chandler, Jr. passed away from complications related to heart failure in Martha Jefferson Hospital's Intestive Care Unit.

Losing a family member is, no doubt, one of the most heart wrenching and emotionally trying moments of any person's lifetime. Barb losing her husband and Chris losing his father is still probably one of the biggest moments of their lives, and probably still effects them dearly to this day.

Still, time heals all wounds -- but time will never make us forget how painful that injury was.

Everyone here should take a moment and remember all the great things Bob had accomplished in his time on Earth.
Even recalling little moments are huge contributions to making sure that our Internet Lumberjack may be gone but never forgotten. Don't be shy and tell us your fondest memories of the man.

Second to the internet lumberjack incident, the most endearing thing about Bob was his hopelessly idealistic optimism about the UN. Decades after the UN had fallen victim to endemic corruption and grossly negligent incompetence, Bob continued to passionately believe in the merits of altruistic international cooperation and he kept an open mind when it came to learning about different cultures. I get that he latched onto the UN during its heyday in the '50s and '60s when he himself was a vibrant young man with his whole life ahead of him, but the fact that he never lost faith in what proved to be such an unmitigated disappointment seemed a bit tragic to me.
