Bob's birthday/deathday coming up -

So Bob-o's birthday, and the second anniversary of his death, are coming up. Are you guys going to do anything in remembrance of the Lumberjack? I might have a couple White Russians in Bob's memory, and of course pour a sip out to honor the departed.

I'll have to think of something to honor the lumberjack, like split some wood or cut down the internet for a day.

I'm going to be serious here for a moment.

I've always thought that if Chris really wanted to do something nice in rememberance of Bob, he could start taking care of those day lily gardens. It's obvious that Bob loved those gardens, and they seemed well cared for when he was alive. Maintaining the gardens would be a fitting, and inexpensive way to honor Bob's memory.

Of course the gardens have become lost now; hidden by weed and long grass, and buried by refuse and overflow from the hoard. If Bob could see his gardens today, he'd be rolling over in his grave.

I dunno why, but even though he was kinda racist, and homophobic, he was strangely charming. I give him a pass on the negative aspects cuz yeah, he was like 80, no surprise. I kinda feel sorry that he married Barb, he was the only sanity in the Chandler house.

Heh, well, we don't really know if he was racist. And he was comparatively homophobic compared to the the era he came from.

To me, Bob's appeal was that, despite his many flaws, he was the only member of the Chandler household who ever seemed to believe in bettering himself at any point in his life. He had an education, a career, his hobbies, his life experiences, and an oddly charming personality. Imperfect, sure, but that's being a human.

Barb said much more racist things than Bob. "GET YOUR BLACK ASS BACK IN THE GUTTER!" Bob just made an off color (no pun intended) joke about Obama painting the White House black and talked about seeing crosses burn in his youth and that he knew people who were Klansmen. People took that to mean HE was a Klansman, which there is no evidence of. They went to a Korean church at his request.

If you want to talk about Bob, fine. But I think it's kind of pointless to make a thread where we joke about "let's dig up Bob" and such. The man fucked up in raising Chris, but at least he's had his sweet release and can do no more damage.

Making jokes about digging up Bob was not the intention of this thread. Don't misconstrue what a couple people have posted with the genuine purpose of this thread, which is as a sort of memorial for the passing of Bob.
