Bootleg media -

One of my favorite things to look at on the Interwebz are pirated/knockoff movies, toys, games, and other media. It's always fun looking at people not in the movie in question randomly photoshopped on there, badly translated English, wrong descriptions, you name it. Here are a couple of my favorites.

This definitely would have made the movie a hell of a lot better, amirite? 8-)

Proof that some bootleggers don't know the differences between superheroes.

And of course this gem from "Backstroke of the West."

I own a bunch of old Hong Kong Anime bootlegs, with the usually horrible English subtitles. Or should I say, "Obtained me are of old cartoon disc movie, no good English to be had." I also watched some Middle Eastern bootlegs where they literally tape in the theater, and some DVDs will have like 8 movies on one disc.

A friend of mine gave me a few bootleg PS1 games from Russia with badly slapped on pressed art on it.

They work well enough on my hacked system but I've long since moved on to emulators.

For a minute I thought the guy on the final fantasy box was Ben Stiller.
I wouldn't be surprised if these bootleg game covers did use a celebrity.

My friend has some bootleg Vietnamese (I think) Pokémon game. When I was a kid I had a few knockoff Yugioh cards, but I knew they were knockoffs. I used to have, (and I would do anything to find another one of these cuz I lost mine) a Chinese Nes knockoff. They were two green controllers shaped like N 64 controllers, and a light gun, that took batteries and were plug in and play. The held the contents of an 80 in one HK multikart, and some of the games were duplicates. The best games on there definitely were, the Double Dragon games, the Contra games, the Macross game, the 8 bit Street Fighter 2, and Muscle. Oh and the back of the box they came in, had a bunch of random images, like from Gundam Seed (or Gundam Wing, I barely remember) and the live action Scooby Doo movie. The only down side, was that it took 4 triple A batteries. An since it was a knock off, was probably made cheaply.

I've seen people selling something similar at the county fair, but with about 20 different games. Everything else was a duplicate of the first 20.

There are a lot of bootleg Pokemon games. Fake Diamond and Jade on the Gameboy Color are well known, but there have been quite a few Gameboy Advance ones as well. Those tended to be fanmade games that exist for free on the internet, but I've seen knockoff shit as well.

China is pretty notorious for coming up with crazy versions of real games since consoles/console games from other countries are (were?) illegal in China. So you get things like "Super Mario World" that uses the graphics of Super Mario All Stars (specifically Super Mario Bros.), the engine of the Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers game on the NES (Mario even squeaks when he takes damage), and the Hadoken attack from Street Fighter.

There's also a Chinese NES version of Chrono Trigger (that's horribly broken and features some interesting enemies):
