Ray Robinson was amazing. The only boxer I've ever seen that even approaches the shit Robinson was capable of is Lomachenko. So no, losing or drawing to a past-prime boxer on the level of Hopkins or Robinson isn't that much of a humiliation.

Hopkins' accomplishments at MW are better than Ray Robinson's at MW. If we're talking prime pound for pound, it's SRR all day, but his prime wasn't not during his MW campaign. Hopkins would have schooled Fullmer at least once if they had a hypothetical trilogy.

I was not a big Calzaghe fan, but I think he had enough skill to be great match up had the politics not kept them apart for so long and they fought in their respective primes.

One of the first generation Judo masters said, "Think of the hands as hooks attached to the body by chains." Though Judo has a different focus, that saying has great import to boxing as well. The most important thing for a beginner to learn is that a punch isn't thrown by the arm.
