Erik Morales was long past his prime against a very fit and prime Marcos "El Chino" Maidana on April 9, 2011. From the very get-go people were already saying it was a huge mismatch, even Marcos knew this fight was on his side. Erik proved to the entire world that despite being old (on boxing standards) this old dog was going out with guns blazing and was gonna make sure that this Marcos was going to have to fight for this title.

Below The Belt's latest episode with Tyson Fury.

Update: Beterbiev-Smith added to Canelo-Fielding undercard
beterbiev-smith.jpg

It’s official: Artur Beterbiev will face Joe Smith Jr on Dec. 15, with the IBF light heavyweight title fight added to the Canelo-Fielding show streaming live on DAZN from New York’s Madison Square Garden.

Beterbiev (13-0, 13 KO) will be defending his title again, just a little over two months after a KO-4 victory over Callum Johnson in Chicago, also on DAZN. It was an all-action fight, as was promised, and this one has some of that same shootout potential. The 33-year-old Beterbiev has been a bit inconsistent about actually stepping into the ring, fighting just twice since 2016, but this is a sign that those days are probably behind him, with the DAZN deal in place and the fights flowing through that outlet. He’s looking ready to stay busy and active.

Smith (24-2, 20 KO) is a solid challenger, a 29-year-old from Long Island who will probably wind up most famous as the man who knocked Bernard Hopkins out of the ring and out of boxing completely. Like, even if he won this fight and defended the title proudly, that’d still probably wind up being the thing people most talk about in the years to come. He’s got very good power and is a legitimate threat, even as the underdog here.

All in all, I’d call it a nice addition to the card.

Who is that godhand looking ass
The one with the tattoos is Joe Smith Jr, he's currently light heavyweight looking to dethrone Artur Beterbiev for his belt.

His stats are as follows: 26 matches - 24 victories - 2 losses - 20 knockouts

I don't even care, I'm excited for the fight. Sure lots of things to complain about, that's how fans are but I'm looking forward to it.

Fury v Wilder this week. Very interesting fight. Fury at the moment is a bit of an unknown, his tune ups haven't really done much for him but if he can replicate what he done against Wlad then he could stop Wilder all night long. However, if Wilder catches him with one of those bombs then Fury could be ko'd.

Fury has a very strong chin, keep in mind he got his ass knocked down by Steve Cunningham by a hard right punch, got back up, endured the pain and still won game. When he went up against Vlad, he hurt him more than Fury got hurt. And he also has a very keen eye on landing good, solid punches and when to set them up correctly in the long run so I honestly believe that getting KO'd by Wilder is out of the question, the only possibility I see Wilder winning the match would be by majority decision but who knows.

Dominant fighters don't lose their dominance all at once, it happens over time, Ali's drop off tot he point where decisions started to go more and more against him when he couldn't get the KO, Foreman's decline as he started to lose his aggression without gaining patience, Anderson Silva's gradual decline after taking Sonnen's abuse to the 5th even though he managed to get a submission in the end.

Great fighters aren't like race cars, they very rarely end in a massive hit that explodes them and send them down in flames. They're more like good family cars, reliable, sturdy and as fast and strong as they have to be. But when they die, it's a alternator here, a leaky radiator there, a bad oil pump and before you know it all the problems have started to add up and they just lose it and find themselves getting replaced or being an embarrassment everytime they leave the driveway because they just look like shit.

Sure, sometimes they do blow up all at once, like Tyson and Rousey. A few even manage to end up going out on top and riding in to the sunset like Lennox Lewis, but for most, its just attrition slowly marching in and taking everything from them like does for almost all of us one way or another. So maybe, just maybe that fabled "toughness" Fury has in all those hard won fights were he absorbed blow after blow that people crow about might be the factor that works against him. That toughness erodes as a man gets older, nothing can really be done to stop it, like flimsy sandpaper slowly whittles down the stiff lumber, fighting takes it away from a man.

Split Draw (115-111, 114-110, 113-113)

What a great and intense match, god damn Tyson got his ass knocked out two times but he still kept coming back up. That 12th round was just so unexpected and incredible! It's great to see the sportsmanship the two fighters showed to each other after the match was over and the charisma Tyson had with speaking to the crowd, especially after his bout with depression and drug addiction, and with Ricky Hatton walking him down the ring was absolutely incredible and heartwarming.

Canelo Alvarez wins by Technical Knockout in Round 3
This fight was absolute trash, Rocky, what the fuck man!?

What a shit show, this fight was absolutely terrible to watch. Easy money and win for Canelo Alvarez, do not watch this fight even if you're slightly interested. Here's what happened:

In Round One: Fielding comes in going fighting short, he keeps laying around the ropes and goes down by a body shot.

In Round Two: Canelo goes in hardcore with Fielding, flimsily throwing punches while Canelo is landing very good body shots and connecting all punches, eventually Canelo lands a punch which leaves Fielding kneeing all the while looking nervously into his corner. Round Two is over.

In Round Three, the final round: Fielding gives his worst performance ever by showing neither speed nor power, Canelo throws a nice ass right punch and Fielding is down, Fielding gets back up and another nice left punch by Canelo and Fielding goes down, again, referee makes the call to end the fight. Fight lasted 6 minutes, easy win for Canelo!

Any recommendations for resources for someone trying to get into boxing? I've been thinking about getting into the sport but I'm not trying to drop a bunch of money on classes right away. Would it be possible to learn the basics from videos?

When keeping it real goes wrong: Crolla tries to keep it together after taking a heavy beating by Lomanchenko in round 3 and optimistically tries to power through the next round only for Lomanchenko to finish the job.

I'm about 2 months late here, but most gyms have a trial class that you could try out.
As for learning basics off videos, you could potentially form bad habits since there's no coach to ensure that you're in good form.

Yes but if he had fought Fury or Wilder and lost, he would have made more money and not taken such a hit to his reputation and future earnings. From his perspective, this is the worst possible outcome.

Joshua thought he had Ruiz all sewed up and got caught sweeping in to finish him. What I like about it is it wasn't a cheap loss. Ruiz didn't win via a late round cut or a bullshit split-decision. He legit fucked Joshua up.

Love the comments about Ruiz, at the weigh in, they said if it were a body building contest, Joshua would have already won. But it was a fist fight and Joshua clearly got his head beaten to a pulp. I wonder if he still asking, "What round is it?"
