What the shit, didn't Jacinda Ardern go ham on Scott Morrison over something similar? What the fuck is wrong with Kiwis, why are they so determined to burn bridges with their best friend in the region?
I think Jacinta hasn't yet commented on it. And yeah, ScoMo wanted kiwis in prison here to go back to NZ but Jacinta got upset about that, so she probably can't support it. Winston is probably just fucking around.

A lot of prisoners in Australia when released are deported back to nz. Its created new chapters of gangs, particularly as a lot of them don't have family in nz (Aussie raised but not citizens)

And winston is just the ultimate troll

Yep, all non-citizens who serve sentence(s) totaling 1 year or more are deported when they are released from jail. Mostly to NZ and the pacific islands but also US, Europe etc.
Pretty weird that there's no prisoner transfer program between Australia and NZ.
Looking like he serves his life sentence in NZ, no takesy-backsies.
Martin Bryant got 35 life sentences (serving concurrently) plus 1652 years so I guess Tarrant got off lightly.

And Australia decided "nope nobody gets guns any more ever" as a result of what one dude did.

Far, far from it. I keep having to post this but they just made it harder to get semi auto long arms.
They asked nicely for people to turn theirs in, but yeah nah.

Gun laws are decided at state level here and mine is a lot less cucked than some US states (lol @ California SBR laws, magazine capacity limits etc).

Meh, long arms aren't too bad compared to California (which is bottom-of-the-barrel) but gun laws for anything other than rifles are insane.

Do you mean handgun laws in Australia? It's a separate licence to long arms but it's not difficult to obtain. Not the fastest of processes, admittedly. But anyone over the age of 11 (or 12?) can get it.
Laws do differ a lot depending on which official reason for owning a weapon you fall under/choose.
A collector's licence has different rules vs a sporting shooter's licence vs a primary producer vs security guard vs dealer vs feral pest control etc.

Handgun laws from what I recall require you to use them at an official gun range almost weekly if not every goddamn day if you want to keep your license. It's absolutely fucking retarded, although granted I may be misremembering.

Depends how many handguns you own. For someone that has a sporting shooter's licence, with 1 handgun you have to do 6 competitive shoots a year, which you could do in 1 month at a club where there's multiple comps/events a week (most are just comps for the sake of people wanting to qualify).
2 handguns, 8 shoots. 3, 12 shoots. I think these requirements are almost halved currently due to covid.
I don't think security guards or farmers licences require any compulsory shoots at all.

Why do these shooters always pick the wrong targets to further their cause? I mean I don't promote mass murder but can one of these fucks actually do it correctly for once?

If you meant why didn't he actually seek out a terrorist training camp or specifically target a radical imam, he didn't actually want to do that. He wanted an attack that would appall and disgust and, if it actually prompted a terrorist reprisal, even better. He wanted to do something that would horrify the public enough to justify draconian crackdowns on speech and weapons ownership. So for his purposes, attacking a house of worship and specifically targeting women and infant children served his accelerationist purposes.

If he'd targeted people most people would agree needed killing, he wouldn't have got that result.
