Brian M Visaggio / Magdalene Visaggio / MagsVisaggs / SeatBeltBlue - *Eisner Nominated*

They weren't "verifying"
You can lose your checkmark by saying “trans women are men” and you might lose it by saying “all lives matter”.

That whole Milo yinnioiouoplolus thing sort of exposed it as not being "verified" - it's not like the identity got called into question
They aren't really "verifying", they are assigning user-level and granting access to an expanded feature set...there's already a terms for that -- user privileges

...they aren't verified account , they are privileged accounts

Proving that nobody has learned anything, Brian got himself another gig with DC. It's going to be interesting to see a DC book get less than 10,000 orders for its first issue.

It may shock you to learn that it's another book about young lesbians. There will probably be a transwoman Jinny Hex falls for because Brian can only write about one thing.

I don't mean to alarm anyone, but
1) Jinny is *TRIGGER WARNING* white
2) She is wearing a belt buckle of Texas! now home to trans-misogynist leader, Joe Rogan, who is bent on genocide of the whole trans race
Yes, that Joe Rogan, designer of troon-bars, a special attachment to Crown Vic bumpers designed specifically to defeat LaZorra level 5 transecurity gates

Considering Young Justice got cancelled for low sales and Bendis is off Superman soon, I think some editor wants to bury all of Bendis’s original characters. Giving it to Brian is a good idea in that case, because no one kills a comic better than him.

Know what's a great, time-honored way to bury creator OCs? Have the next writer unceremoniously kill them off or just have them disappear altogether with no acknowledgement.

No, I don't believe this is a way to excise themselves of Bendis. I think this is a way to appease the batshit Portland crew who were probably throwing a fit behind the scenes about how long its been since they gave Mags some work and maybe also to spite YBZ (I really don't think its a coincidence that both Mags and Waid are getting DC work at around the same time). At least someone has the sense to contain Brian to a shitty side character for a D-lister rather than put him on something that could potentially be damaging or embarrassing.

Mags' "Marilyn Manor" series got cancelled right before the first issue hit the stands.

Maybe she'll break that record by having this one shot cancelled before it gets written. :story:

Bringing this thread back from the dead to talk about this because it really does explain a lot about their writing ability. It is not, I repeat, it is NOT a good thing if you're sending stuff to your editor and they're consistently light on the revisions. Odds are pretty good that they don't actually give a shit about what you're sending, not that it's actually amazing. Or they're just a bad editor.

Why bother putting any effort into your work, when your publisher is going to push it out merely because the writer is trans?

Silly boys - expecting work ethic and quality is transphobia!

Or the editor is terrified of getting branded a Transphobe. Can't forget that.

Or (assuming this is some kind of crowdfund) the editor was grifted into charging half his/her normal rate and has to make it up somehow. Due to also otherwise getting branded a transphobe.

Also, I'm a bit confused by the use of the term "novel" here. I 'm assuming Brian means "graphic novel," rather than "70 to 90 thousand words of text?" At any rate all I see listed under the name "Visaggio" at Amazon are comic books and graphic novels.

Fifteen minutes of kinder, gentler, Zach. A/k/a a boring rehash. But since it is about Brian, figured I'd post the link. I'll admit I had no idea Visaggio rated a Wikipedia page, but other than that I didn't learn much and was mostly bored.

His channel used to be a hoot. Now it is the visual equivalent of eating cold mashed potatoes.

What makes this hilarious (or obnoxious, depending on your point of view) is that it's clear Brian doesn't think anything is wrong with his work and his response to Fabian Nicieza was an attempt to flex on him. Despite failure after failure, this man still thinks he's this great visionary who doesn't get any feedback or notes because it's just perfect on this first go.

"This veteran in the industry always expects to do rewrites and I haven't had to in a while. Should I, a rookie be worried about this? Nah, I'm just awesome."

A little self-awareness goes a long way.

Self awareness? You're talking about a bald guy that no one had ever heard of until he became Mags "man in a wig" Visaggio.

He has no self awareness. He's a typical "lesbian" troon that is mad no dykes want his lady dick anywhere near them.

Thank God he never became a priest. This freak should definitely stay away from children.

Well no shit the editor didn't ask for rewrites...why would you provoke someone who is itching for an excuse to go into hyperviolent ADW baseball bat rages just to try to polish the corn and peanuts in their turd of a work to a mirror shine?
So you can have something get cancelled for being only very bad instead of being cancelled for being incredibly awful?

It reminds me of little league. The kids who are actually starting to play ball you coach -critique, tell them how to improve, alert them to their mistakes
Johnny, get the bat off your shoulder, Timmy you have to get under the flyball

the kid who still can't tie his own shoes...you tell him he's doing great.

It would have to be, a double spaced essay is about 500 words / page.

How does payment work in the comics industry?

I get that diversity points make it fairly easy for him to find work but his ultra low print runs and sales make me think there has to be some way to minimize the financial liability here.

You get a set rate per issue with a bonus once book sales pass a threshold, so unless you work on the Batman's or Spider-Man's of the comic world or have decent clout in the industry, your pay isn't great. Mags can afford to shit out these books because he has a day job to make actual money and has 0 interest in turning this into a fulltime gig(because they can't)

Brian is probably using "novel" in the sense of new as in writing any sort of words that are more than 10 words in a bubble is new and strange to him
