Agree, disagree and informative would imo be useful ratings for this sub.
I'd love that idea too. People would be more open to giving feedback knowing that the worst that they're going to get a suggestion is a neutral disagree rating.

At least agree and disagree would be nice. Really I think bringing back all of them except the negative ones and ones with negative connotations would be good. Since it's a feedback board wouldn't it be useful to see how many people actually like an idea? Or do we have to either make a passionate argument or one word reply every time?

I've waited a few days to sniff out any differences with the ratings disabled before deciding to reply to @Holdek 's initial request to bring back agree/disagree ratings here.
(I didn't miss your post).

Honestly other than than the ebin 'AGREE written rely rather than as a rating maymay', I've noticed a lot of positive differences without ratings. For one people aren't afraid of posting opinions or arguments that might otherwise earn them negative rates. Additionally it's cut down on some cheap attention grabbing posts, reduced group think, encouraged written responses, and taken away some of the power that a top-rated post might have in a thread over swaying opinions for it and instead require members to read and discern for themselves. Rather than merely jumping on board with what looks the most popular.

In addition this was also a decision I came to following Null's efforts to phase out any use of lolcow alt-sites. Many lolcow alt-sites feature no ratings on top of a few having anonymous posting. I find these to be a beneficial outlet when used in tangent with a named forum for /meta/ discussions like this. So it was a sort of middle-ground experiment by having a rating-less Kiwi board.

That being said, I'm open to the idea of only having agree/disagree enabled here. After all disagree only counts as a neutral rate.
Can someone sell me on the idea just a little more before I go through with the change?

I don't really care either way mostly because I think the feedback forum is unnecessary overall. It's largely turned into a shitposting /meta/ board and more or less serves the same purpose a Talk to Staff thread. Only inviting shitposting.

You bring up some good points.

I think only having agree/disagree is still a middle-ground.

And, to kind of elaborate on the reasoning behind my request, with a specifically feedback forum having agree/disagree can enable you to gauge popular sentiment for ideas.

With your goals in mind, I think the main thing is to not have "autistic" and "dumb," because they can scare people away from freely expressing their opinions, and maybe "winner" because that's often assigned to really funny joke posts.

But, anyway, you can always bring back agree/disagree for a few days to see if the benefits that you've observed still remain, and remove them if they don't.

Those aren't my impressions generally. Yeah, there have been some shitposts, especially with the anon period, but the mods have been pretty good at keeping that under control. I view Talk to Staff as better for more private or specific concerns. I like the interaction between staff and users about the forum in a public venue.

If they're afraid about negative ratings they can just post anonymously. But idk maybe only having like and agree is a good idea, then you can judge if an idea has only lukewarm acceptance, or if a lot of people are on board but don't feel a need to elaborate on why.
