Sometimes the salt needs to flow, and I love watching a mass autistic social media meltdown regardless what the topic is. I'm sure there are others who feel the same way. But in order to be funny it needs to actually flow rather than being the dumpy trickle that got the sub canned in the first place.
I suggest bringing the sub back except leaving it locked so new topics can be created. Topics getting absolutely derailed by oceans of salt (see: the RBG thread post-death or the inevitable election results threads) can be forked off into new threads and placed in the salt mine. This would serve the purpose of keeping the original threads on topic and let people subbed to the forum easily find meltdowns in progress to be farmed for content.
Also stuff the 'salt is life' youtube in the header text so it doesn't get posted every page.
