is there currently a way to just view posts that contain some kind of media (video, attachment, imbed) in a thread? This would be useful in terrible Chris threads when you just wanna see the chris updates and not all the forum autism.

There isn't a way to do what you describe, but there's a (currently imperfect) way to just get updates from Chris.

The Updates Subforum is currently hidden from view but I still occasionally post threads in it. When there's a big happening that catches my eye. It might be a thing that comes back fully in the future but it'd depend on if users want it.

Sure you can. Use the search bar in the top-right corner, search for the term "[MEDIA]" and then check the box labeled "Search this thread only." It will return a list of all posts in the thread that contain the media tag.

This is a cool trick, but to fully do what I'm talking about it would need to pull MEDIA, IMG and ATTACH. When I type all them in, it does pull all three, but it seems to pull it by relevance and not date. Is it possible to make it search by date? Also maybe you could add this to the useful searches list?

If you use "Advanced Search", it secretly stores the thread ID and opens the form in the context of the thread. The resulting URL looks like this. If you want to reduce the scope to one thread, add the &c[thread]=###### to the parameters

This isn't working for me. What am I supposed to do? Go to a thread, then search the terms, go to advanced search, select by date, search, and then add the &c[thread]= tag?

1. Search box.
2. Search query.
3. Tick thread search.
4. Search.
5. "Search Again"
6. Notice URL contains c[thread] parameter.
7. Refine search.

It's not meant to do this obviously but it works.
