Fucking outrage culture. A Burger King ad was pulled from rotation in NZ (this is the worst thing to happen there in as long as I can remember) for being "racist." It depicted a man unsuccessfully trying to eat some new Vietnamese inspired burger with huge red chop sticks.
If you're waiting for the racist part you're not alone. That's it. Apparently if predominantly foreign eating utensils are used in any way but intended it's racist...? The backlash seems to have stemmed from a single tweet that blew up with 2.7 million views. One special snowflake did this. I fail to see the appeal in the victim narrative, but nowadays victim-hood is by default a morally righteous position and we reward it with praise and "you're so brave!" And like dogs people have caught on to the fact that this behaviour draws attention and ass pats. So now for every Harvey Weinstein true victim we get 100 autists whining about being raped after a sober, consensual sexual act that ended up being unpleasant. And there appears to be no end in sight.
What's the most frustrating example of outrage culture you have witnessed recently?
