From where I stand, BH is pretty cowish even setting aside the bigger controversies he’s been embroiled with. But as with anything, Hartman manages to attract even bigger spergs ready to spill their spaghetti. You saw that with #idon’tsteal but even before that, you had fans drawing DP characters wearing “Fuck B*tch *artman” shirts and making spite headcanons.

I think that its also due to the fact that Hartman isn't in a more tainted light than Ren & Stimpy's creator, John Kricfalushi. Surprisingly, John K's reveal of being a pedophile was nowhere near as big as Hartman's backlash on due to the fact that both controversies took place around Spring/Summer of 2018. John K only got more backlash one year later when his kickstarter, Can Without Labels was panned by the internet and fans of R & S and the following year in 2020 when Viacom announced that Ren & Stimpy was getting a reboot. While also not as saint as John is, Butch was never bad from the start as Kricfalushi was. Plus because Hartman still has an audience of some sort, his hate only gets bigger when his fans stop looking up to him and join the hate wagon.
