I actually had an enormous admiration of him because of his work in SNES emulation/preservation. I was also very sympathetic to his losing the SNES games.

I am upset at his Trump Derangement Syndrome and his adopting a queer identity, though. I do not buy that that is an inevitable result of his finishing his main project or his being mentally ill (that was somehow the cause of his project); that Syndrome and identity are his choices.

He very well could have gotten a high paying job too if he was willing to work it, especially as he already has a giant portfolio to his name. Emulation is a high dollar industry, and knowing assembly language can also land you some high paying jobs.

Seriously though, wings are common in the arts when "in context" (like on angels or demons). But for some reason, furry artists seem to like randomly slapping superfluous wings on "special snowflake fursonas" in a chimera-like way.

I've only ever used an emulator once, and it was a Game Boy Advance emulator to play Mother 3 (I ended up getting a reproduction cart because it felt more "legitimate" somehow). I'm not much into emulators at all, but reading this...just holy shit the wasted potential and talent. Reading this made me feel a little sad, and I didn't know what the BSNES was until 10 minutes ago.

This guy was able to program something actually impressive. I know jack shit about emulators, but being able to single-handedly code a perfect emulator for the Super Nintendo. I mean, yeah that requires a kind of turbo autism, but there is legitimate talent and knowledge that goes into that. And now he's a tranny-furry who's doing nothing with his life besides bitch about everything. Between the ReSwitched trio and this, I am stunned at how fucking insane this community is.

And more often than not, hacked .ROMs (at least the translated ones I use) are one-of-a-kind projects. Who else, say, is translating Hero Senki other than Gideon Zhi? Nah, even with the reproduction cart I still can't do the combos. I have a terrible sense of rhythm anyway, so I just mash randomly and hope for the best. Truth be told I wasn't aware that was an issue until after I stopped using it.

I felt weird downloading a game's ROM and playing it on my computer. It felt wrong somehow. And besides that I didn't feel like I was actually playing the game, if that makes any sense; here I was, playing what was meant for a handheld screen on a massive computer screen, using a DualShock 4 controller to play when the original device had half the amount of buttons. And it's not just VisualBoyAdvance either, even using the Virtual Console never felt right to me. Call it autism or whatever, but games just don't feel right to me unless I'm playing it on the original device (except Game Boy Color games for some reason, or if the game is ungodly expensive to begin with).

Dude, Emulator designers are people who basically spend hours staring at video game consoles and screaming, "HOW CAN I UNDERSTAND YOU IF YOU DON'T TALK TO ME!?" and then trying to transcribe it into Assembly.

As for emulators, I admire higan for what it is, and it is a programming masterpiece, but the usability is shit and performance is also shit. I prefer using Snes98x. But that of course assumes I feel like playing a SNES game, which is almost never.
