I think his core viewers are happy that he made a main channel video at all. However, it seems to have not pleased his tugboat, according to patreon. The video came out on May 28. Disregarding the end-of the month drop-off he is still in steady decline, to my surprise. I thought that there would be a jump.
I think the only people left in his corr fanbase are children/college students and people without jobs (and thus no disposable income). (You have to have a lot of free time to watch EFAP consistently).

Don't get the hate for Batman Begins. It was a refreshing new take on Batman. Plus it got me invested in the character of Bruce Wayne. Plus it feel more real world and grounded than previous Batmans.

People like Southpaw and Mauler forget that the loss of prestige that resulted from the Schumacher films. Batman was seen as campy kiddie fun.
Nolan kickstarted the badass Batman for the movies.

The animated show kept Batman alive as a badass in some form during the late 90s/00s.

He believes that if he does this, he will cement his arguments and silence his critics. He claims his critics have never managed to refute his arguments in his SM2 review under a 'consistent standard' It should be noted that Southpaw's buzzword is 'standard' not 'objectivity'. In watching his recent livestream, this is his biggest value. His dislike of sacred cows, the subject of the livestream, is stemmed by the idea that he thinks that people, even within the EFAP community (he finds this particularly maddening) don't apply the same standards to them that they do with things like TLJ. He says he's not a contrarian, he just has 'consistent standards' and demands others do as well. It's the reason why in his review he constantly compares SM2 to TLoU2 and TJL, saying they have the same problems.
This is fine on paper, just like much of the objectivity rhetoric. But in reality it seems to be a function to put themselves on pedestals.

The main reason they haven't is because Southpaw's standard for criticism is MauLer himself. That's why he needs MauLer's validation like when he showed MauLer that SM2 is bad in a private viewing together. That's why he seemly emulates him and fiercely defends his character. But if MauLer fails to live up to this ideal, who knows? Part of me thinks that Southpaw thinks he be do MauLer better than MauLer can, or that he can keep MauLer's imperfections in check. What MauLer truly thinks of Southpaw is a bit murky, but I think he sees him as a promising
protégé that was uplifted from fandom. I once thought MauLer disliked Southpaw but tolerated him, but I don't anymore.

I'm sure Southpaw intends to make a BTAS video, but whether he actually will is another story. He's prone to getting burned out from criticism and he doesn't have MauLer's base of support to push back against detractors. If the backlash is too great, he'll crumble.

The problem with a fight between the two would to assume Dunkey would actually engage. What would most likely happen would be what occurred with TLOU2: Dunkey makes a video, Mauler and co. make fun of him for five hours and Dunkey just replies with a meme or joke, maybe sends the fans to spam their chat with "biased and nitpicking" over and over again.

At best Dunkey would make a joke video satirizing EFAP by nitpicking inane details in something like the Godfather or Saving Private Ryan. He'd probably fill the critique with Maulerisms like "objectivity" and comparing the film to TLJ a bunch of times.

When I did watch EFAP, I remember MauLer talking about how much he loved Buffy, and how it came to be a problem I had with him later. He mentioned that you needed to give Buffy 8 seasons to get good. And Wolf watched it with him. I found it a bit telling and frustrating when he couldn't show the same interest for ATLA, one of Wolf's favorite shows, which is only 3 seasons long.

I would say that the first two acts of Batman Begins are amazing. The third act stumbles a bit ... But it's still quite a good movie. And, hell, it was a ballsy movie for its time. If any of Nolan's Batman movies deserve heavy criticism, it's The Dark Knight Rises. Now that is a dumb movie (though I still admittedly enjoy it).

And I am of the mindset that if you don't enjoy Batman: The Animated Series in any way, then you are probably not a Batman fan. Period. lol.
