Can anyone explain to me the whole Toys 'R Us thing? -

I can't seem to find it on here, if anyone can share with me the experiences Chris had and how employees handled him that would be great. Or was it uneventful?

On one of the older incarnations of the forum, there was a user who worked at TRU around the time Pokemon was big.
According to her, Barb would dump Chris there for hours at a time and would bring ridiculous amounts of stuff with him to keep him occupied, IIRC. She had a picture of him at a table full of legos. I'm not sure if it was ever posted on the cwcki.

Some of these cards are extremely broken or cheap. Chris was reportedly kicked out of the store for insisting that he be allowed to use them, even though they would be outright unfair to whoever played against him. The look upon a child's face as Chris lays down a Virgin with rage card would have been priceless.

I can't remember if she mentioned this specifically, but it's still hilarious.

I remember one story where he was trying to play with an employee. He was badgering an employee, and they tried to go into the back to get away from him. Chris followed him to the doorway, and then stepped one foot into the backroom (like "hahah look at ME!") after the guy told him he couldn't come to the back.

I remember in the interview with Lucas and Mimms they specifically pointed out Chris never used this fake cards in battles.

Chris had a deck that used his fake cards, but never played it, from what I saw. He did hand out business cards with a link to his website, but nothing other than that. Although a part of me kinda wants a Sonichu Promo card...

I'm going to assume that after Toys R Us he realized he had to cut that shit out. If so it might indicate that child Chris had more of a grasp on social norms then his adult counterpart.

Chris is just Chris. Autism + Terrible Parents + Subpar Intelligence. Any one or two of those might be managed, but that unholy trinity pretty much seals the deal.

I think that Borb never expected anything significant from Chris. Therefore, they never really encouraged him to do any grown-up stuff (apart from driving, I guess) and, if they ever did, they gave up pretty fast (Ex. Bob putting Chris on SSDI), hence why they kept giving him Christmas toys during his 20's and celebrating his adult birthdays with childish parties.

The big difference between Chris and most autistic people (or, for that matter, most mentally retarded people) is that nobody ever made Chris grow up. He lives in the same room he did as a child, surrounded by about three decades of toys, unburdened by the adult worries of taxes, employment, and bathing.
