Do you think it's possible to change your sexual orientation? Christian conversion therapy is notoriously ineffective, but I've seen many reports of trannies changing their orientation after taking hormones.

I don't know if you've noticed, but with trannies it's always straight male AGPs who change their orientation. That's because AGPs often gradually develop what Blanchard called pseudobisexuality. Basically, they become aroused by the idea of having sex with men, not because they're attracted to them in the same way women or gay men would be but because having sex with straight men "like a woman" is an integral part of their fantasy of being one. I'll try to find some papers on this I read a while back.

"Born this way" is a complete meme pushed by the gay rights movement to legitimize homosexuality as an immutable "identity" group for political purposes. It's not that you can pray the gay away or anything, but sexual behavior is a lot more subject to social and environmental factors, such as ending up in prison for a decade or more or being too ugly to find a partner of the opposite sex, or trooning out as a result of persistent exposure to fetishism and propaganda.

Of course these sorts of things are going to sound like heresy to the average first worlder, who's been indoctrinated with "born this way" propaganda for decades at this point and takes what they've heard as fact without even thinking about it anymore.

Honestly, attraction is a spectrum. It's less that you're 'born' gay, straight, or bisexual, but it's sort of like how you like your food. It's something you figure out as you mature psychologically, at least in my experience. Straight is the biological default, though, as that's the natural reproductive urge in play, but some people just kinda... discard that as they grow, and decide they want box/bussy instead.

You can't not be attracted to something, if you have a preference towards men or women, nothing is going to change that.

But I think you can be more fluid and change your mind about what your preference isn't, you may think you're strictly straight or gay, but that can change over time.

In other words human sexuality is pretty fluid, nobody is "born" a certain way, human sexuality is determined by a variety of complicated social and environmental factors.

It depends on what the question is really. "Is it possible for someone to change their sexuality?" Yep. "Even consciously as a choice?" Yep. "Can you do it?" No.

It's possible, but it isn't easy and it isn't something most people are any good at. Can you change what food you like or what movies you like to watch? The answer for most people is no, but that's not because it's impossible. There are people who can change those things, but for the most part they don't because it tends to fuck with your sense of self. Sexuality is one of the harder things to change as well. The fucking bullshit pray the gay away/conversion therapy people are notoriously shitty at it to the point of being counter-productive.

Also, bullshit like "What about in prison?" doesn't count. Everyone knows it isn't gay if it's in prison because the balls don't touch. No, but they aren't actually gay, they're just thirsty and the moment they get out that shit goes away.

Sometimes it happens to gay men. Gregory Gigi Goregous was an effeminate twink. Like the super gay kind. Then he transitioned & fell in love with a woman & they are still a couple.

In these cases I think the attraction to women was always there but these guys deny/ignore/hide it for whatever reason.

I think sexuality can change over time, depending on your circumstances.

When I was a teen I thought I only had the hots for women. Then men came into the picture (haha) and I thought I was bisexual. Now I've been with the same guy for a long time and couldn't imagine sleeping with a woman again.

But I honestly never put nearly as much thought into it compared to most of the LGBTQXYZ people. I just prefer what I prefer, kinda like with food. One day I think olives are nasty, the next day I can't get enough of them.

Eh, I don't think sexuality is a conscious choice and nobody just up and chooses to be gay, lesbian, or bisexual. It's more of a "fluid" thing as @Dom Cruise mentioned, or to be more accurate, it's a spectrum and as awful as Kinsey was at times, the idea of sexuality being a spectrum as opposed to a few rigid orientations is one that has some credence to it.

The problem with the idea of sexuality being a spectrum isn't the idea itself, but that similar logic was then applied to gender, which actually is a rigid binary.

Labeling people an X, Y, or a Z mirrors our modern and post-modern obsession with identity, rather then the sex practices themselves.

Yes, if he stays with her it becomes a category shift, in that certain "gay" venues become closed to him, and "straight" ones become accessible.

But this is not universally the case, it becomes so in a modern state-level society, with all of its trappings. These institutions and laws and assigned rights, have to be in place, to begin with.

In a society without a church or a gay dance club, we get back to what people are doing, instead of who they are. Some of us will prefer to have sex with other women or other men, some can make it work either way, and others will have no interest in getting it on with another man or another woman.

Is sexuality malleable?

In a certain sense, yes.

Are religious dogmas, culinary preferences and career choices malleable?

Sure.

Basically (vague, i know) "studies" have shown that people can get used to it and learn to like it, for the most part. Key word: adaptable.

If circumstances require it, most New Yorkers can learn to like living in rural Nebraska, most raging bitches can learn to tolerate their cunty in-laws, most gays and lesbians can find some kind of partner of the opposite sex tolerable.

At some point, you just kind of find ways to like it, because it sure beats being fucking miserable all the time.

Not everybody is adaptable. And your new circumstances come at a grave sacrifice because they go against the grain of what we have grown to find comfortable.

Maybe. But like somebody else said, this could be part of their "being a woman" fantasy. In essence, a socially-constructed interpretation of how an XX expresses her sexuality.

Frankly that urge is more of a reflection of male-oriented pornography then it is of female sexuality, because a lot of women find that practice to be degrading and vile and don't choose to engage in it.

Human behaviour is complex enough (and our incentives to deceive each other too great) that we're unlikely to ever have a complete answer to the question.

But as that just stops discussion dead in its tracks, let's focus on a couple of points that I think are interesting in this context.

1. Masters and Johnson offered talk therapy where they had a (self-reported) high success rate in converting gay to straigth, for those that asked for it. They explicitly only took people that wanted to make this change and they stressed that it wasn't a moral issue to them whichever way people went. Despite Masters and Johnson recently being made into a series, the series only examines homosexuality as something that people are born as and violently oppressed for.

2. People can be conditioned into developing certain types of sexual attraction. Whatever you were doing right before your brain was flooded with endorphins and other reward hormones, is behaviour that you are conditioned to do and seek out. That's why people condition their partners bit by bit into playing along with what they're into (for one publicly available example, look at Patrice O Neal explaining how to get your girl to do anal).

3. Homosexual culture (plays, books, etcetera) is filled with examples of what might be called conversion. For one public example, take the vagina monologues, where an underage girl is fed drunk and then brought to orgasm by an adult woman. As it says in the play "It was a good rape".

4. I have strong doubts about the efficacy of the vast majority of christian gay conversion camp type things. None of the methods used seem to have any efficacy at changing what you're attracted to. I've heard some good advice, but it's scant. The best I've heard is to seperate "homosexuality" from "homosexual desires".

5. There is something strange about a culture that simultaneously attacks incels and defends homosexuality. Neither offers societal benefit (children, perpetuation of culture). Yet the latter defended on the basis of their innate desires, whereas incels are attacked for it. Okay. So why aren't incels defended on their innate desires? It's a strange hipocrisy of a hedonist/feminist culture.
