Candles: do you like them? Do you buy them from normal stores, specialty shops and online, or make them yourself? Would you love it if your aunts stopped sending them to you and sent you something useful instead? Do you know of candle drama? Would you buy a candle that smelled like a lolcow's vagina or amhole? Discuss.

I just like them because they come in pretty colors and scents, and its fun to set shit on fire. I find myself buying them in person rather than online as they're easier to smell, and like to burn them when I'm studying.

Got three plates meant for candles on my coffee table with 5 big candles in total. Rose petals just to cover the bottom. They're just for decoration, since I get a headache when burning them. Have burned them a little though, since it looks weird with completely unused candles.
All from Ikea, expect the petals.

Candles are great, but they don't mix around cats. So, I have had to go towards using a wax warmer instead. I buy my wax and candles from stores. I have drawer in my desk dedicated towards the little wax cubes I have. At this point, I randomly pick one out from my drawer. While I have some smells that some people might really hate such pine, I don't think I would have a lolcow's armpit or axe wound in my drawer. I would rather get the fakest of fake vanilla smells before that.

Candles are based. When I took my fiance into a Bath and Body Works I think it was the first time he could really experience just why women/girls love the store so much. They got pretty storefronts, amazing smelling products, and he even got to indulge in things more for himself.
I've had the pleasure of enjoying homemade soy candles as well, and depending on how they're made you can even use the "wax" as a moisturizer. The ones I've used could be a bit oily but my god they smelled wonderful, and my skin was thoroughly nourished as a benefit.

As for buying candles made from weird shit, or anything from Goop/Paltrow. Hell to the fuck no lmao

Why don't they mix around cats? Usually I put candles where I can see them and high up enough to deter my feline from getting too near.

My cat is an asshole and likes to do things he's forbidden from doing. I caught him trying to swat at the candle once upon a time and so I decided that having a candle lit as long as I have the cat was a bad idea.

Oh what an ass. The worst I've heard is people's cats accidentally burning or getting their fur burned if their tail happens to swish over the flame. The more you learn.

My mom is a candle fanatic. Anytime she's at Walmart of Bed Bath & Beyond, she'll rush over to the candle section whenever she's running low.

Only candle scent I ever enjoyed was when one of my ex's had a cherry Jolly Rancher candle.

So many candles smell nice but then you light them and they don't really project the scent, or they just make everything smell like oil. I'm more of a soap person when it comes to stink pretties--more reliable delivery--and occasional incense when I need to make my house smell more like incense than it smells like cabbage soup.

Along incense lines, I tried Papier d'Armenie because the package design is retro as heck and it reminded me of tea bag/amaretti wrappers that you light on fire and wait until they take off and fly away. Papier d'Armenie is scented paper in a little booklet, each about the size of a fortune cookie fortune. You pull one off, fold it accordion-style, and light it.

In practice, the unlit paper has a faint scent. (I got the original scent, which was like a baby powder-scented plastic doll.) Lit, the scent doesn't increase or broadcast or anything. I might have been folding it wrong, but I never got more than half of the paper to burn. Packaging does look cool, though.

(Someone in the witchblr sphere could make bank selling a blank version of these, with instructions to write something on them before you set them on fire and "CONCENTRARSE EN SUS DESEOS.")

Love candles. Don't love how all of them at Bath & Bodyworks are $13.50+
I try to stick around on their email subscription due to the few and in between good sales they'll have. It's nice paying $25 for two three-wick candles when the time/money allows.

I personally really like the scent of candlesmoke, even without the wax of it being scented. Unfortunately I can't light any in the space I'm staying at now, but once I get back to my house I'm definitely going to finally light the stockpile of them I've gotten as gifts.

Out of curiosity, can anyone reccomend some incense brands? I'm a sucker for the scent of sandalwood incense, but it's hard to find any in person where I live and I find online shopping to be especially dubious when it comes to products like this.

Look around for your local "420 smoke shops" or even a weird new age store. Those are the places that usually have good incense, and depending on the shop you won't pay very much either. My local smoke shop happens to sell incense for maybe 20 cents a piece, and the more you buy the cheaper it gets technically. As for "brands" specifically, I find it a bit more difficult to find a reliable brand considering that even "Nag Champa" incense are bootlegged/sold as counterfeits all the time now. I'd recommend finding a Japanese incense seller, usually the Japanese aren't poisoning people.
Reliable eBay seller I like with good incense.
